I don’t feel uncomfortable at all. Perhaps if it was a sketchy looking chap in a hoodie, outside of a dark gas station at 2AM, but otherwise I don’t mind at all. I have only had a handful of people mention it in years since I bought my first one, but it has lead to a couple of interesting conversations.

About a year ago I was in a restaurant and a guy comment on my watch (Ex II 16570). He commented that he loved his, which was a 1655. Needless to say I was a bit flattered as it was kind of like having Jack Nicklaus compliment me on my golf swing. I asked if he wanted to trade, which he politely declined. We had a nice, brief conversation and we went on with our meals.

I also had a young man at a clothing store once compliment me and stated that he would like to own a Rolex some day. We chatted for a bit and I wished him well ensuring him that he wouldn’t regret it.

I guess the way I look at it is the same as someone complimenting me on a particular suit I may be wearing. I wear what I wear, because I like it and it makes me feel good. If someone takes Athens time to say something, I always let the, know I appreciate it and am happy to talk about it.

I agree.
I'm not suggesting that watches are on everyones radar, but many people tend to notice things and choose not to speak about it

... no offense but some people wonder why they think people who wear rolexes are snobs... I just say thank you and go about my day. I drive a Porsche but don’t claim to own a VW beetle. Some who can’t afford a Rolex yet might just be trying to be nice.

I think a majority of people notice your watch. Especially if it’s a Rolex. Now the number of people who will come up to you and actually comment/complement you on it is another matter. Most of the time when someone goes out of their way to complement you then you should feel happy. I know if someone ask you if it’s real it’s rude. But with a brand like Rolex with all the homages and fakes don’t take it personally. It’s not a knock against you but for the average person spending 9k plus on a WATCH might seem crazy. When people see my Rolex they usually look at my wife’s Rolex and ask me what kind of work do I do to own a Rolex and have a beautiful wife. Lol.

Well was out to dinner last night and the restaurant had that HD little lights that make anything sparkle like fire. Had my full Yellow Gold GMT Ceramic on and caught a few eyes on either side of me scoping what I was wearing... you couldn’t miss it.

People seem to notice my GMT II all the time. Im an orthodontist and I have 15 year old patients ask me every week about my watch. I tried wearing my SS Daytona to work for less than a week and had to stop because almost every male adult recognized it and commented that my fees must be too high :)

Does anyone else find it very uncomfortable when someone notices your watch?

Same here. I had two random strangers commenting on how nice the AP bracelet was while I was out at a bar in NYC. Both didn’t know AP. I guess they’re commenting on the bracelet and not the watch

I don’t get offended if people ask if my watches are real. Sometime they’re just curious. I do have friends who owns both real and fake pieces.

This. Although instead of "a majority" I'd say "a lot," but still...

If someone asks me if it's real, it has happened sadly, then I say it's fake. Then they always respond that it is real and laugh.

I don't mind someone commenting on my watch, especially if it starts a conversation; however, due to my age like you it does make me a bit uncomfortable when all someone notices is the brand and not the watch.

I would love for someone to say nice Sub rather than simply comment that it is a Rolex.

Best conversation I've had was when I first got my Speedy. Person noticed it on my wrist within the first couple of weeks I got it and freaked out telling me it was his dream watch.

I’ve had three folks notice. Two of which wear wearing fake DD’s, the last was a client that thought I was doing too well. Brushed it off by saying I’m a single male with no dependants, and eat a lot of Ramen

I don't mind if someone asks if it is a real Rolex. If the next question asked is "How much does it cost ?" This is a blunt rude question. At this point I would change the subject or walk on.

No. One. Notices. Ever. At least that has been my experience. I work in a professional office with loads of people and have not seen anyone looking at any of my watches. I would have been delighted however if anyone had ever wanted to talk to me about watches.

I’ve owned Rolex watches for over 15 years.
Plenty of times someone has noticed one I’m wearing, but I’ve never had the question “is it real?”

This happened with me sometime.. I was sitting next to somebody in the train and talking guy wore a Seiko or so, and he constantly looked ''sneaky'' very very very very very closely to my submariner.. he havent told me anything about it but it was uncomfortable……………… . .

Both were deplorable fakes. A half second glance was all it took for both of these folks.

But never Judge someone on his clothing. I dress like a vagabond but wear a Rolex. I do not care about good clothing and my jacket smells so badly that when i take it off the full train is going to the second class YOLO

Anyone who would is a buffoon. One of the wearers engaged in business, the other unqualified.

Best thing I ever saw at work inregards to this subject:

Had some older folks dressed in jeans and coveralls pull in to our store in a late 90’s Chevy sedan, top of the line at the time. Vehicle was fairly worn, had 300,000 or so miles on it. Unfortunately, my idiot staff were paying other guests more mind so I went out to talk to them for a few minutes.

20 minutes later they had taken delivery of their new Land Cruiser, title in hand. They just wanted an SUV this time

Also, the wife was wearing a lady Datejust, and the gentleman a platinum Daytona. I think we talked more about watches than vehicles, they already knew everything about what they wanted.

Only felt uncomfortable once and that was when a "less than honest" person asked me if it was a genuine Rolex, on that occasion I lied!
I have had more people recognise and comment on my Tudor Black Bay 58 than ever on any of my Rolex pieces.

I've only had one person notice my watch in public and it was my Alpinist. He knew it was a Seiko and couldn't stop telling me how beautiful it was. It was nice, he asked me what input I had for his first watch, he was looking at Seiko, Citizen, Orient, and I gave him some quick advice, mostly on buying what he falls in love with.

I've not yet had anyone notice my Rolex in public, but I hope if I do the experience is similar.

Edit: I've had a number of people compliment me on my Santoni's. Not noticing the brand but telling me that they liked my shoes or where to get a pair.

I notice them daily and sometimes do make the "Inset model here" watch. Many talk for an extra second and other get rude.

I've only had a few people comment on my watch. I've noticed on my travels that high end stores certainly judge potential customers. Few cities at first wouldnt open the secure entrance doors until they spotted my GMT. I'm young and most times wear sweats.

I recently took my young son to see his medical specialist. I noticed the specialist was wearing an older sub which looked like a 5513. I commented "nice sub" to which he responded "thanks, it was a birthday gift from my wife and it's a birth year watch"
He then looked at my watch which I had been noticing earlier that he was constantly glancing at. His comment was "that's a nice watch you're wearing, is it a Seiko?
My response being "Umm, actually it's a Rolex". He apologized profusely ...I was wearing a BLNR !!
Moral to the story is...even if someone is wearing a higher end timepiece does not automatically make them a watch enthusiast, particularly I think when it comes to Rolex.
Also, not a good idea to wear expensive watches to medical specialists, car dealers etc as they will probably assume they can get more $$ out of you !!

It doesn't bother me... The only persons who noticed my watches were enthusiasts and it turned each time into a very interesting discussions.
