Brought a few bottles and bought a few at duty free for our Nile River Cruise. The Egyptian wine isn't very good, IMHO.

Celebrating that our post-inspection offer on our new home in Palisade, CO has been accepted. How are we doing that? With very good wine and grocery store sushi in our unfinished basement while our hardwood floors get refinished upstairs so we can get our current house on the market asap!

Yes, there are quite a few and the house we are buying is on the "wine road" through the region.

We will have 1.25 acres, but even better, are surrounded by 20 acres of peach orchards, so we can't see any neighbors. We'll be able to set up a shop onsite for our soap and candle business, and become Harvest Hosts to host RV-ers overnight on our property. We already have a wholesale deal with The Blue Beryl Winery to take their empty tasting room bottles and turn them into custom candles for them to resell.

Thanks Thomas. We’re very much looking forward to it. The business isn’t really to make money needed in retirement, but more for something with a purpose to do on the side along with our other hobbies and outdoor activities. The markets and Harvest Host will give us more social interaction too. I watched my dad retire 4 times before he finally called it quits in his 80s. He said he didn’t know what to do with all his time and that there was only so much golf and gardening you could do. We put a lot of thought into how we’d spend our time and maintain social interaction after leaving the workforce and so far, it feels like a great balance of work and play.

That..seems like a most viable plan..and that you're able to do it. Hats off to you (both) and I look forward to more posts as we go along.
Love to hear success stories like yours...

Hey Roger:

Glad to see you managed to make the move to the West Slope! Good luck with the finishing details on the house.
