I can’t believe so many people said not to wear a SD to the beach why have a dive watch if your not going to enjoy it in the ocean? Makes no sense!

It stands to reason, when you lay on the beach face down, hands above head, with your rolex on, the bracelet clasp is going to get sand papered.
I never gave this a thought when I was wearing my first ss gmt! When the watch went in for service, the refinishing of the clasp resulted in the small rolex crown being almost flattened. I still have that watch, don't wear it much, but when I look at it, I think to myself,......'I wish I was that young again and I would still wear my rolex when on the beach'! |

Wear and enjoy it, otherwise there is no point to owning it. My sub is usually on my wrist when on the beach or the boat, which is pretty much every weekend in the summer. My Explorer even makes appearances.
I wear my Seiko divers as well, but that's because I enjoy them as much as everything else I own and their silicone straps are comfortable. Once you get off the beach just rinse and articulate the bezel which will get the salt out so it doesn't get gunked up. Other than making sure your crown is securely screwed down you shouldn't have to worry about it. If you want some piece of mind get your watch pressure tested every other year. |
