Icon17 PAM 292K Black Seal

Had a colleague pick up my 292, who fortunately was in Rome the exact day it arrived at my friendly Italian dealer.

I had partially decided to move it on, as its arrival time was kinda bad, me having just bought the 279 and SDDS. BUT WOW WOW WOW - what a great piece, I was simply smitten by its beauty.

Off came the case sticker ....... snip went the hang tag ...... on the wrist it went and has stayed there ever since

The ceramic feels amazing, actually being very weighty, even compared to the Milgauss and SDDS. Pleasingly accurate to boot at +1 sec in 5-days

So, as you've probably gathered, I'm well pleased with it

And the obligatory wrist shot:

The 292 is a special piece.Place it amongst other PAMs and it really stands out !! Saw the 322 yesterday and IMO the 292 beats it.Enjoy !!!
Now if you really want the design to "pop" place an OEM Dark Brown gator,Antique Brown Gator or even the Golden Brown Gator on the 292.Something I havent done yet,but plan to do in the future.

Case back is rather dull - just some etched steel.

Its a very pleasing watch - I actually enjoy winding it every day

Thanks for the kind words everyone - I do feel lucky to have such a unique and beautiful piece. I wanted one since mid'08 ...... it even cost me a few bucks on the Black FF that I thought would fill the gap earlier this year. I should have just waited!

Sound advice - I now have two Panerai and have not even looked at a strap replacement

Its a solid ceramic casing, not painted, pnd'ed or dlc'ed.Very scratch resistant and the black wont come off.

292 is proving to be the most accurate watch I've ever owned, at +/- virtually nothing every 96hrs!

....... need to get better at the winding thing though, as I've let it stop
few times

Does the 292 have the new inhouse movements?

Nice pick up! I love it. My understanding is the 292 does not have the new in house movement.

Really nice watch, I am looking for a black Panerai myself, the only reservation I have is the cermaic case, how does this stack up in terms of robustnewss against a metal (stell or titanium case)? Also how would it withstand a drop of 4ft? If I could get some comfort that I cound't ddamage it any easier (preferably harder) than a metal watch I thin kthis would be my next purchase.

Great choice

Alas, nothing is indestructible in my experience

- Titanium marks pretty easily, disruption of the finish, more than actual scratches

- Steel will scratch

- PVD/DLC will chip/scratch

- Ceramic ..... watch this space

The ceramic is incredibly hard like steel or harder, its an amazing watch (if you can find one) and the combination of stealth, with the name 'Black Seal', and imagining yourself as a frogman all in black with a black watch on..... I need one now!
