BB58 "Faux" Rivets?

Hi everyone,

I've been loving my new BB58 for a few months now, including the rivets. For me, they definitely add to the 50/60's vibe without being too much of a novelty. Standard Steel bracelets almost look plain to me now.

The rivets are definitely a point of contention for people, especially them being "Faux". I use quotes because I've yet to hear a description of the assembly. Does anyone know what the construction actually is?

-Are they just buttons that are glued on?
-Are they the heads of pins holding the links together from each side rather than one through piece with a riveted end? -
-Are they part of the side plates?
-Are the side plates separate from the links?

Curious about the "fauxness" of them. I've been tempted to disassembly a spare link, but don't want to waste it. Seems like more work (and negativity) to polish and assemble a Faux link than use real rivets.

Would love hear back from someone that knows the answer.

I just picked up my BB58 this past weekend. The sales person stated the rivet pieces are laser welded on the links. I think I also read that somewhere as well.

The outer links are machined in the shapes of plates and rivets, then brushed and polished accordingly. You won't be able to separate anything beyond the center and outer third sections. The "plates" are integral.

Surprised they would go to such lengths to replicate a rivet, but maybe CNC machining makes it easy.

Those purely decorative rivets agitate me to no end, great watch w the bb58, I couldn't wear the bracelet on a bet.

I own the watch and the “faux rivets” don’t bother me at all, neither do the snowflake hands. I’m actually struggling to find something I’d change on it. Oh, and the lume? Better than any Rolex I’ve ever owned.

I also agree the BB lume is miles ahead of that on my 5 digit GMT. Can't speak for how it compares to the 6 digit, however.

I’m out at the moment so pics are a no no. Having said that, the lume on the 58 lasts longer than my BLNR and LVc overnight.

I agree with this. My only hope is Everest or rubberB bring out a strap for it. Just to mix it up abit! Otherwise flawless lol

That's disappointing. I was considering that piece too. This kind of dampen my interest.

There are elements on every watch which are purely design based, and for aesthetics only. I don’t think this is any different

I genuinely struggle to find fault with the watch. After 5 weeks on my wrist, has lost 1 second. And now it’s showing some battle scars, just how I like it. Prefer the green lume to the chromalight of the BLNR.

I’m pretty much the same on the accuracy front. Can’t wait for battle scars, I’ve already banged it twice and nothing to show as yet!

I have a couple of those too. I was tempted to get someone to blindfold me and boot me down the stairs at work left arm foreword! They refused, damn “elf ‘n safety!”

Lol, I’ve just given up caring about knocking the watch around, after the first few scratches. Clearly doesn’t affect the time keeping and since it’s brushed you can’t tell unless as the right angle. So once again with this watch...winner winner
