Laser etched crown Oyster Perpetual 39
Hello
Does anyone know where the laser etched crown is on the OP39? I’ve read that it can be in different locations other than 6:00 on non-date models. Any help locating and tips to view it would be appreciated. |

It should be there. Shine a flashlight at it from the side (the one on your phone works well) and it should jump out at you.

I can confirm that it is at 6 on my 2020 OP 39mm Rhodium. It is below the 6 marker... so way down on the crystal - basically where the blue pip for six is (on Rhodium dial).
But I can also add that it is very difficult to find/see... super bright sunlight seems to work best. It is also really small, like the size of the crown in the rehaut - so make sure your crystal is spotless, or you will likely miss it among a smudge. Let us know when you find it! |

Difficulty finding Laser Etched Crown in Crystal 114300 OP 39
I am having tremendous difficult finding mine on a white dialed 114300 (39mm). Investigating under bright light with a 10x loupe. The watch was purchased from Crown and Caliber, and they are insistent that the watch is 100% authentic (if not original ... so maybe it has an old Rolex crystal?). However, the watch is from 2018, so it would seem strange if the crystal were already replace. Perhaps a drop accident? Speculating. If I learn more I will update.

I was at the grocery store waiting to check out, and looked down at my watch and I could faintly see the crown. I think it might have something to do with the type of lights they use at the store. I have also shined my phone light down from the 12 o’clock position, and I could kind of see it but not as clear as at the store.

It really helps to both have the light at the right angle and to use a jewelers loop.

Update: Crown & Caliber definitely sold me some sketchy stuff. I have made a lot of calls, and visited the AD, and everyone is convinced that there should be 100% L.E.C. on the OP 39. I thought there was a minute chance Rolex could have been cost-cutting on the base models.
The watch is real, AD confirms that, but the crystal is not. They say sometimes parts are taken from cheaper watches to add to more expensive ones. It's possible this crystal fits a Daytona, for example. That kind of thing. I took a look at some other L.E.C.'s and they are always easy enough to find with a loupe in a matter of seconds. You shouldn't have to work too hard. It is quite small though. |
