patek for sure, 5205g is a great first patek and a nice way to build a purchase history with the brand

The Patek is for sure a much nicer piece, but considerably more expensive. Ultimately you should get what you think will make you happier in the long run. As someone else pointed out don't get a watch just to fall in line with a celebration if it isn't actually the watch you want. Hold out for what you really want!

First get your deposit back. Second, no matter what you decide to do, do it at another AD. That’s just plain dirty pool and you shouldn’t do business with them (Rolex, PP or otherwise) at all with them.

I'm thinking about canceling my Daytona WG order ... 116519ln order

They’re so far apart, it’s not comparable. One is a chronograph without Date, the other a GMT Annual Calendar.

Personally I would go for the Patek as I already have a WG Daytona and I have more use for a GMT annual calendar...

Just one question: is the Patek a Used one?

I would Generally say Patek but I’m not fond of that reference to be honest. Why not go grey on the Daytona? The variant you want isn’t particularly hard to find.

I’m not a fan of either watch but I’d choose that particular Rolex over that particular Patek.

I would take my money back and try to find it from a grey. Pretty sure you can find it for the same price.

Sadly I think your AD sold your watch out from under you. If it were me, I would get my money back and regroup. You seem undecided on your next watch. Any watch purchase would be purposeful and planned out. Figure out exactly what you want and then go get it.

The first thing I would do is get my money back from the AD who's delivery date went from "a few days" to indefinite. Then take a couple of days to regroup and locate another WG Daytona or buy the Patek.

Patek

I am more concerned that your AD asked for a deposit, never ever ever had to pay a deposit with an unknown delivery date, what is that song...mmm "don't pay the ferryman until he takes you to the other side".

Why did you have to pay a 50% deposit for the watch in the first place, as opposed to just putting your name down on a list? It feels like paying a deposit hasn’t gotten you any close to securing one, i would take the money back and if possible, use a different AD. Also, as a few others have said, they’re totally different watches. Other than starting a new job, do you have any connection to either of these watches? They’re both very expensive so I’m assuming you’ve done quite a bit research to pick out those two? If not, why have you settled on these two models?

Ask for your money back.

If the Patek feel just right, when you put it on, go for it.

If not, and the Daytona is the one you really want, go to another AD.

You do not want to do business with someone you know you can not trust, if you intend to do more business with them in the future.

This is a difficult call, you want something special for a big event in your life but if you choose a Rolex there is no guarantee that you can get what you want when you want it.

IMHO the best thing you can do is go with what you want and just accept that it may arrive before or after the the event that you want to celebrate, but you know that when the watch arrives exactly what it is for.

In my case I wanted a TT Rolex for a big birthday next year, my AD has told me a DJ is fine that can be had fairly easily but if I want a TT watch from the professional range it it could be 18 months before it arrives, this will be well after my birthday.

Get the watch you really want, as no matter what else you buy that 'want' is still going to be there gnawing away at you every time that you see a picture of the watch that you once had your heart set on.

Easy. Get the watch you want. If you’re wealthy enough to get a watch based on availability then get both. If you’re not that wealthy then why are you basing your decision on what’s available?

There is an antiquated school of thought that might counsel one to actually wait until the "new job" has actually commenced.
