Do the current winner’s watches have printed rather than engraved casebacks? Bummer if so...

Heard a story recently at the imsa races.
Yes so many 24 winner Daytona are a fake.

Here goes.

A racer won the watch at Daytona, presented by the Rolex official, went to a local ad the next day to get it sized.

They looked and told him it was fake.

After a lot of back and forth, them checking the news and his ID, calling Rolex HQ to confirm, they sized it for him.

Then a week later, they lost their ad status.

Heard it from a credible source, don't remember the year or the racer.

Anyone notice in “Ford vs. Ferrari” Ken Miles played by Christian Bale is lying on his bed in France preparing for the 24 hours of LeMans. He’s just won Daytona back in the US, and sure enough, as the camera zooms in, there is the watch on his wrist.

Just in spirit of the thread title, neither of those watches are Daytona or Le Mans race winning watches.

Not a slight on Chris Bingham’s achievements - just bad luck he didn’t win at the Daytona 24, and the team didn’t run ACO events.

He got these watches for winning the Grand Am GTS class championship for the 2001 and 2002 seasons. That in itself is a feat.
