AP 15300 vs 15400

I personally feel the 15300 is the better option. When purchasing my first RO I was deliberating between the 15300 and 15202. I too have a 6.75" wrist and found that the 39mm size was perfect. Also, I find that the 15400 proportions to be off. When AP moved from the 15300 to the 15400 they kept the same movement and just created a larger case, dial, etc. This caused the dial proportions to change, moving the date window further towards the center of the dial. For whatever reason I can't unsee this and for that reason the 15400 just looks off to me. This was fixed with the 15500. I can appreciate the challenge with finding a good example of the 15300 versus the 15400 or 15500. But 49mm is also the classic RO size.

Thoughts on paying $30.5K for 15300 with blue dial? Can’t decide if it’s on the higher side bc I saw a few on TRF selling for around $27K back in June/July.

39mm is the ideal size, the integrated bracelet makes it wear bigger.

If you can pull off the 6-digit sub, you can pull off either of the 15300 and 15400 in my opinion. My wrist is 7.1-7.2 inch for reference.

I have the exact size flat wrist as you and a 41mm RO fits fine with no overhang.

I have addressed this many times but I'll do it again. The issue with the 15400 isn't the diameter. It's when they made the 15400, they still used the same movement from the 15300. They made the dial surface area larger and bezel thinner. In turn, it appears much larger than it's actual dimensions. I had the 15400 and have a 7" wrist, found it wore way too large. This is also someone who still owns one offshore (carbon diver) and find it actually wears smaller, yet 42mm.

My personal experience and observations I made while owning both. And when I had the 15400, I owned 3 offshores at that time.

Another element to consider is that the blue dial color is different in the 15300 and the 15400, where the 15400 is definitely more shiny than the slightly more understated 15300.

This depends on what serial 15300 you get. Some H serials have a much shinier blue dial - similar to the 15202 or 15400.

Can you clarify for us which H serials have the shinier dial? If I remember the H serial is the latest of the 15300s, which come with:
1) Sometimes the newer style clasp?
2) Apparently sometimes shinier dials?

I know that the Black Dial 15300s were always as "shiny" as the 15400s and the 15500 Black dials. Are the White / Blue Dial 15300 H serials also shinier than their earlier serial predecessors?

I remember somebody saying the Black Dial 15300s were ALWAYS Shiny (regardless of Serial) since they were made from the same dial material as the latter 15400/15500 black dials - so what you are saying is that ONLY the latter H serial White / Blue dial 15300s are Shiny?

Sorry if I'm wrong in any of this, just wanted to clarify my understanding.

Yes, is OEM from AP. Rubber strap $300 and deployant buckle + 4 plots additional $800.

To me they wear like very different watches. My wrist is 7.6 and flat on the top and I still prefer a 39mm size but it's a chunkier piece in my eyes, and that's not how I'm using it. For me the RO is a sporty but definitely dressy piece, with all that reflection coming off of the facets on the case and bracelet. I know, the impulse is to think the larger watch is less dressy, more sporty, but the bezel on the 41 appears thinner but far less dominating, but is still there. Sacrilege I know, but I prefer the proportion of the 41 on the dial (longer hands, more real estate for the beautiful dial engraving, less impactful bezel) though I prefer the 39 size, it feels thinner too (which is where I'm headed overall with watches) though I think they are close to the same.

But honestly, as always, all that matters is how is looks and feels on your wrist. If you have any questions or doubts with the kind of money it will take, try all you can to try on a 39 before you buy. May not be possible but far less likely for second thoughts.

Blue would run about 30k for a nice example. I just scored a black 15300, naked for about 22k which I think (?) is a good deal.

15500 new one around 38k, 28k for 15300 from 10 years ago model, really something should be considered that’s why i would like to hear your opinion.

My wrist is 6.5 and pretty flat, and 41mm is way too big for me. The 37mm is perfect for smart, and the 39mm perfect for casual.

So if i was you, 15300.
