Got my wife’s 114200 there. No issues, item as described, good communication, best price compared to other TS’ I checked.

Absolutely wonderful people. They have great stuff too. Don’t judge them by their antiquated website. I think it’s a kind of nostalgia thing for them because his late father set that up. I have bought many pieces from them and I enjoy Jonathan and his team very much. A+++

They have an awesome selection at great prices.
Try and work with Jonathan as opposed to Errol (or the lady that works there, forgot her name). No need to go in, their pics are as described and their store is like a mausoleum.

Have done a few deals with them over the years, all went great. Just remember he has a variety of new / NOS / pre-worn... and 'franken' timepieces too. So be sure to read the description of the listing or ask when you call them.

I think I know what it means but describe what a "franken" timepiece is.
Thanks to all for the responses.

Thanks to all for the responses.

Parts and pieces from different watches assembled into one watch. Take one original reference, swap out the movement, replace the dial, change out the bezel, etc.

Some are obvious with a little research, others hardly discernible from the original. Can have a great impact on quality, value, warranty status, etc.

You're fine, simply call and verify 100% NOS / stock. Jonathan is who I'd ask for when calling.

Unlike many other dealers who only sell as-new condition pieces, Capetown also offers Franken timepieces in addition to new / NOS. So some newbies might not be aware of the wider variety of pieces, including some interesting dial / bling case combos.

My Muse/wife wears a Franken as Rolex did not sell the combination she desired. Offered her anything she wanted from the AD order book, and she wanted the Franken. Happy wife, happy life. She wants the Tiffany too so we're waiting on that from our AD.

Does anyone know if they are honest about their Frankenstein watches? Is it as simple as just asking if the watch has all authentic parts and trusting their answer?

I have also looked at some of their pieces and the whole lifetime warranty worries me. Makes me wonder about how they can take on that cost if they’re truly doing a great job with service and not charging outrageous prices.

Yes honest as best I can tell... and yeah the lifetime warranty seems a bit cheesy at first until you realize you need to get it checked/serviced by them at certain intervals. I'm neutral about that as I see both sides of it.

If you want NIB he can handle that, he also has vintage pieces... and if you want a custom piece (franken) like my wife wears sure.

I guarantee you that Jonathan is as honest as they come. Top notch. Just talk to him. Ask him.

I do not believe they are Frankenwatches. They have a division that makes their own unique dials.

Just read the description of the watch you are looking at. This is a pretty simple and clear process.

Am neutral, yet generally, anything other than 100% Rolex parts may be considered Franken. Guess it's what one considers where Franken starts.

Btw, my wife's Rolex a Franken from my NYC connection. She wanted a certain pink flower MOP dial and blinged case / bezel combo. At the time, years ago, Rolex was not blinging up the DJ case as they now offer.
