(I know they're real but it's hard to fathom.) Mine was a shot of a watch with sweat on it from running and the reflection of the bezel on the metal distorted by the roughened surface. This site has become a place to post perfection only. We all know that hardly anyone really gives good use to their little treasures. It's kind of sad than a bit of normal use can get sniped at so readily.

Did not even notice until you mentioned it.

The original pic though.. Jesus thats filthy

Thanks!

I bought an ultrasonic cleaner and remove the bracelet every 3 to 4 months to clean it.

200€ + bracelet removing tool.

You’d be surprised about the amount of stuff that comes out, even if toothbrushed regularly.

I also noticed that since removing my watch before shower the bracelet stays cleaner a lot longer .

True enough.
I used to wear a watch in the shower for years thinking a daily wash/rinse would be the best thing out.
But soap scum proved to be problematic due to continual build up that was hard to remove.
Now I never shower with a watch but prefer to wash my watches in a warm water solution of weak dish washing liquid after a soak and scrub to make bubbles between the links with an old soft tooth brush. A good rinse straight after and i'm done
No more issues with any perceptible build up of any kind.

Nothing like a dormant 3 month old thread to rev up the forum!

Seriously, what happened to the original, disgusting watch 'after' pix?

My watch had a date with a baby toothbrush and Clinique facial bar soap today. One reason I love my Rolex is that I can wear it doing anything, so if I’m exercising or gardening etc, it needs more cleaning than after a week of working in air conditioned office.

I’ve met people with absolutely disgustingly gunky Jubilee bracelets. Obviously we get close up photos here on TRF, but I don’t recall ever seeing a dirty Oyster or President bracelet “in the wild.”

Lol.
That pic was showing what looked like fungus growing on parts of the crud.
It conjours up images of a watch that's potentially been on the wrist of a homeless person. Perhaps never washed or off the wrist since the October 1987 crash. The only prized posession left in the world after loosing everything

That is not the point of this thread, I want to see clean watches on my bench, so I'm trying to get this message across

The watch is currently clean, running perfectly and on the customers wrist. As for the after pic, I'm afraid I don't have one

My sister's Chanel got a bit like that so much guck on the bezel that I couldn't turn it, she never thought to wash it in 5 years.

Don't worry; when it comes back next service it will be equally disgusting and you'll have a chance for before and after photos!!!

Out of curiosity, does a bracelet like the one you showed in the original post clean up with just an ultrasound bath while fully assembled, or have you actually had to take links apart on some of these to get them fully clean?

That is so nasty. I do not understand how people don't clean their watches. It is on the wrist, right by the hands, getting covered in oil, solvents, dead skin cells, hair, dirt, and bacteria. We regularly clean our hands and we regularly clean the clothes we wear...why would someone not clean their watch?!?!

It got clean in the ultrasonic cleaner, but it took several hours at 80C. After that I polished the watch and cleaned it again.

My original post is now a year old, I suspect the watch is currently quite dirty again. At least it works well... sigh

Ultrasonic electric toothbrush then ultrasonic water pic for bracelets is just more fun than the old vat ‘o cleaner solution.

When having to clean someone's dead skin and grease, I rather just not even look at it and have it burned. I throw it in the ultrasonic cleaner and forget about it for a few hours.

If it was up to me I'd force them to buy a new bracelet and not even bother cleaning the old one. I hate it that much.

Had my two jabs of Pfizer, will get the booster next year. Had my tetanus shot 2-3 years ago so that one is still good for a while thanks for your concern

Yeah I agree Bas - I meant for we owners who you were advising to clean our watches.

Using the toothbrush/waterpic means not removing the head. Then something like a manual brushing with soft toothbrush.

I once bought a Root Beer where the seller only brushed the top of a jubilee. The bottom looked like your original example. It was a long time in the ultrasonic box.

Ah yes. The manual brushing is a good way and definitely recommended.

Personally I always wipe my watches with a microfiber cloth when I take them off at night
