Costcolex

I’ve heard about Costco selling Rolex watches....first time actually seeing one. The attendent told me they just sold another for $39,000...he didn’t know which model.

My guess is the gold Day Date.
I saw a Datejust in Costco a few weeks ago. They told me the watch is covered by Costco's own warranty. Costco usually has really good protection policy and extra perks. I wonder if their warranty is better than Rolex's.

I tried on a 40mm gold Day Date at an AD and it had a sticker price of $36k. Can’t imagine a grey market watch sold by Costco would cost more... unless it had diamonds on it.

HAha Costcolex, I like that. With AD's seemingly making it harder to get some watches I can totally get why someone might just buy it there if the one they want is available.

I had started a thread a few days ago about a watch I saw in Costco. However, the moderators decided to close it down as people started making jokes about walmart, costco, buying by the dozen etc. Not sure why it was closed as it all seemed to be in good fun but....since a costco thread is open , please give some thought to what you post or it may get closed down again. My question is....I wonder how they are able to get these watches and can Rolex somehow stop them?

Rolex tried to sue Costco to stop and lost. Just another gray as far as I am concerned.

Do you have a link to this, I would like to read it. Really does hurt the brand sad day when these companies can get away with anything should have a sign that’s says NOT a authorized dealer of Rolex and No Rolex warranty on quality. These watches are abused in transit and often broken. I know a AD that gets people all the time with new watches they got from them not working. Sad day in America if they did lose the case. Just sad

LOL you just made up that last part about the watches being abused. If that was the case, Costco would simply take it back for a full refund.

Absolutely a lie on someone's part; I suggest that your AD is feeding you the typical Rolex line and trying to foster sales from their store by falsely discrediting the competition. Either that or someone is blaming Costco for their self inflicted damage to a watch at the AD. "All the time," I suspect is a big stretch if it is true at all.

Buy where and what you like; I can buy through Costco in a tax free state if I choose for an extra fifteen minute drive.

I have heard some horror stories with broken watches from Grey sellers who offered their own warranty instead of Rolex's. I would less worry about Costco since it is such a huge company with great protection policy. If anything goes wrong, I feel that they will cover it.

I once bought a TAG from Costco in 1999. They in fact Did tell me that because they were not an authorized dealer, I would have to bring the watch to them if it ever needed service. Long story short, some years later the bracelet broke. I took the watch to a major chain back then, baily banks and biddle. They were an authorized TAG dealer. They sent it of to Tag with no charge for shipping and Tag determoned the bracelet was defective and repaired it for free. Fast forward a few more years and the bracelet broke again. I again returned to the same jewelry store and same scenario only this time TAG said the bracelet broke in the same place and replaced it for free.

Costco is very reputable. I bought a laptop there and a week later, on the costco site it was about 40 bucks less, went back to the store and they refunded the difference. Then a few weeks later, there was another reduction in price I think due to a manufacturers coupon for that item. I went back and they adjusted he price again.

Why wouldn’t there be a Rolex warranty? Of course there would be. Also, I was fully aware Costco was not an AD and in no way was it advertised as such. If you’re worried about Costco “hurting the brand”....there’s a whole lot worse out there. By the way, there was a Panerai LUMINOR 1950 (I believe) next to it....soooo...there’s equal “hurting of brands” going on.

Well, here I go venturing into the deep end as I've never purchased a Rolex from them. Like some other online sellers, I don't believe Costco's watches come with warranty cards. My guess is this is done to reduce the likelihood of getting their source in trouble with Rolex. I'd venture to say that Costco's warranty out performs Rolex's.

No, that was Omega that sued Costco over grey market watches and lost.

Quote:
In 2004, Costco acquired roughly 120 Seamaster watches bearing the Globe Design on the “gray market,” from third parties that acquired the watches through Omega’s authorized foreign distributors. Costco later resold those watches in the U.S. for below Omega's suggested retail price. As a result, Omega filed suit against Costco, alleging that Costco's sale infringes its copyright of the Omega logo on the back face of the watch, and further claiming that Costco imported its copyrighted work without its permission. “Omega reasoned that although it authorized the initial sale of the watches, it did not approve the importation of the watches into the U.S. or Costco’s later sale of the watches.

Thanks for that. Tiffany sued them as well, but won.

The Tiffany suit was completely different and easily distinguishable. Costco was selling Tiffany knock off jewelry that was not made by Tiffany, and the Costco employees regularly represented the jewelry as being Tiffany. According to the link, many customers believed they were buying Tiffany jewelry when they were actually purchasing knock off jewelry. That's completely different from Costco selling actual Rolex watches.

It was likely in part due to my taking offense at the anti Costco jokes and calling someone on it. I suspect they get their watches the same way as the greys on this forum. This is a standard anti-Costco trend of people who for what ever reason have decided they'd rather buy a Rolex out of a TSs home or even the back of a van then at Costco. They seem to feel that Costco hurts the brands image; my guess it they don't use Costco.

The price on the DJ41 looked pretty good. And you can definitely trust the seller. With their return policy, it seems like a no brainer.

If I had a Costco near me, I'd hit that in a minute.

Did you take this picture at the Costco in Scottsdale on N Hayden? I live in Houston but was in there last week while in town visiting family. Had to help my dad get a new TV. Anyway I saw that Sub there, almost took a picture of it. If you're not in AZ then there is another YG Sub for sale at the same price in AZ.

Having been a Costco member since 1995 I can say for certain I've spent a lot of money there and have very little negative to say about the company and a lot of good things. I really love getting my refund checks each year as well. I'd have no qualms about buying a Rolex through them. I'd rather do that then through any of the Forums TSs from a view point of security and the ability to get my money back if I want.

Agreed. Costco is a great place to work, with good benefits, so I have no problem spending money there. Costco is not an AD though and these are grey market watches they’re selling. Also, their selection of watches will be limited to the slower movers of the brand. I doubt you’ll see a ceramic Daytona at one anytime soon.

The 2% back for executive members and 2% back for using their credit card. Maybe more on the credit card ???

Let's not forget about the 100% life time satisfaction on what they sell. Electronics are I think still 90. Days.
