Vintage Rolex Watch

I was given this vintage Rolex watch by my grandmother years ago.

Would anybody here be able to provide any information on the watch?

i.e. model, year of production etc?

Thanks,

Rick

probably solid gold - 9 or 14K - open the case back with a sharp knife and you will be able to see the marks. My guess, it was made in the teens. not very collectible, but a pretty watch. Picture is not good enough to say anything about the dial.

1929 Rolex AD

The watch pictured was most likely produced in the 1920s. It appears to be either a hinged styled case (back opens on a hinge like a door) or a three piece case (movement is accessed by separating case back from crystal housing. These watches featured mostly .925 sterling cases often accented with gold fill outer shell to give gold appearance. The watch looks to be one of the very early Oyster models that were some of the first "waterproof" wrist watches. This attached 1929 ad shows similar models. Enjoy the watch!

Although the case is the same shape, that is not an Oyster case, just a snap back case and bezel.

Probably correct as far as age. I would say 20's as well.

Thanks for all of the great responses so far. Here are a couple more pictures to help clarify things a bit. The watch still works but the wind does not last too long. Not sure if it is worth anything or worth restoring it so my wife can wear it? Thanks again.
