Marc you were the reason I bought them my friend, I saw you recommend them and noticed them as I was walking through Harrods while on a holiday in London and bought a couple of different ones. Makes me feel a little bit special every time I use one.

Not a bad wine for being something local. I remember meeting the proprietor at Costco once while he was demo'ing the wine. Age and air will make it better IMO.

A nice Campbells 'Bobbie Burns' Shiraz. First of the case and drinking well at close to it's peak. Not much bouquet but a pleasant soft approach with plenty of fruit and just enough grip to keep it alive on the palate. Had 2 hours to breathe which was just about right. A nice (not great) red for a cold afternoon.

My brother in law lives in Adelaide.

His definition of “cold” is somewhat different to ours

Ha! James I'm sure it is! The temps today were 12. C at 3.pm and 11. C currently at 6.00pm. That is positively frigid for us in Central Queensland. Rain also which is unusual here. Great Port-drinking weather. I plan to do my bit tomorrow. Cheers.

Finally got a few bottles in from my buddy that’s the head vintner at The Grassini Family Vineyards. We can’t get the easily in New Orleans so he has to ship them out to us directly.

Opened a 2013 bottle of Opus One. While it was good, it wasn’t great. Storing: chilled at ~55F for the last 6 years - aside from shipping. It was decanted for one hour. I sipped at open, and again at 20 minute increments. I was not blown away.

Around this time in 2014 I was at their property and recall tasting the 13. It was so good I had two bottles shipped home. I also have two 14s. Am I drinking past prime? I was told these bottles can be held for 15-20 years. I am lost guys.

In my opinion Opus 1 is highly overrated, especially for the money. It should last 20 years plus. Like anything though it needs to be made well to do that.

We've enjoyed their second label, "Overture". More reasonably priced around $100/btl.
