To me U Boat is the pinnacle of overpriced fashion watches.

While I find them extremely overpriced and VERY dubious in design, there is nothing inherently wrong with U-Boat watches.
The build quality is quite solid and the movements used are durable, tested and proven ETAs. Chronographs are powered with Valjoux 7750, like many automatic chronographs of today.
So, the point is - if you like the designs of Mr. Fontana, then you can consider U-Boat with ease of mind.
Personally, I think that there are numerous viable (and better priced) alternatives for military-inspired watches, from brands like Sinn, Tutima or Hamilton.

I just bought my first U-Boat watch, $730 for a brand new Left Hook. I like the brand, love the look, but think they are priced a bit high. I looked around and found some good deals, heard the early models had iffy quality, but also understand that U-Boat has stepped up their quality lately.....
