Stainless Steel and RG ROC

This year AP released a large bunch of ROC. There's some minor re-design of the dial in that the lower dial becomes smaller while the upper dials are enlarged for better legibility. As a result, it's necessary to shift the date window more towards the 5o'clock index. This has the effect of throwing the dial un-balanced, kind of. But in reality, it is much less intrusive than I imagined and I think I can live with it.

My Take: I like the chocolate dial RG ROC best and I think it contrast well with the RG case and not so much the blue dial. The so called "panda dials" for the SS ROC comes in black and blue variety. These new dial designs helped to break-up the apparent mono-tone of the older ROCs but I kind of prefer the blue dial ROC the most.

Regrettably, still no in-house movement.

Ps is there something unique with what looks like the jumbo?

Unfortunately, the new 42mm ROOs are featured, and so is the most anticipated Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in full ceramic. According to the boutique, production in 2017 has already been fully allocated and sold out!

Too bad they didn't have the ceramic PC, the price is putting me down, at least for now, but really thinking about it, very tempted in 1-2 years to sell 2 pieces, add cash and get it, looks amazing in pics

The New 2017 "Coloured" Divers

Do you love colors? Then AP has some nice colored divers to offer you this year. Basically, it's an adaptation of the Colourful Chrono Divers released last year ( some still on sale until now ).

And all together ( yeah, the orange and yellow diver wasn't available ) ...

My Take : For me, The first SS Diver released remains the quintessential divwr and a classic to this day. I also loved the ceramic version ( own one ) but these coloured divers ( at least these versions ) don't really sing to me and I find them largely unnecessary. These are just cosmetic changes to the SS Diver and not even using any new material. They would have made it really attractive for me to buy if they had use a Titanium case with a ceramic bezel + coloured dials though I guess that will raise the prices uncomfortably close to the SS ROOs.

Regardless, they do add variety and if someone likes them, why not? At the rate this goes, we are probably not far from seeing a RG diver.

Yellow Gold Jumbo 15202 with Blue Dial

Last year, AP decided to release a number of Yellow Gold watches, including the ROC, the Perpetual Calendar and of course the stable 15400. This year, it added the Jumbo in Yellow gold with the same stunning petite-tapisserie blue dial found in all 15202s. The result is a very eye-catching and **bling** Royal Oak.

My Take : This is not the first time AP released the Jumbo in Yellow Gold. 2 years ago, there is the limited "Hour Glass Edition" in yellow gold as well and a matching green dial. I find the yellow/blue combination much more pleasing. The 15202 is of course also available in Rose Gold and I believe there is a tourbillon version in platinum as well. Regardless, I am largely a Jumbo-purist so I prefer mine in SS. It's what the designer intend it to be and is a big reason why it was consider so ground-breaking when it was released 45 years ago. YMMV and I am sure this watch will have no lack of suitors.
