I like both. I already have a Royal oak so I'd go for the VC Chrono, I'd wait a bit and buy grey market or used, both AP and VC take a big hit on the secondary market.

VC 100%. Fully in-house and Vacheron won't make a bunch of "limited edition" versions. Could you imagine a VC Overseas Shaq limited edition or a Patek Nautilus Terminator edition?

Does anyone have any insight if VC has has plans in the near future to make their new VC Chrno in a black and/or white dial? Thanks.

For me, honestly neither floats my boat. Which one is preferred by you is somewhat subjective based on what is important in your value system. The:

- aesthetics,
- legibility of the dial,
- dial lume
- feel on the wrist,
- chronograph movement features,
- hacking seconds or not,
- level of finish
- scratch resistance,
- water resistance,
- locking pushers or not,
- quality, fit of bracelet or strap
- service costs,
- AD preference,
- brand prestige,
- and resale

all may add up differently for each of us.

The stainless steel sports chronographs from AP, PP and VC do nothing for me. I prefer chronograph offerings from other less prestigious makers. In my value system setting aside brand prestige and resale, the ceramic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Flyback smoked the more prestigious offerings. But as I said, each of us may look at the same choices and have a different watch come out on top. I suggest that you go through some thinking after trying each to see what is important to YOU (not us).

My $.02

VC only because AP has been a bit of a fad thanks to Instagram. A few famous trust fund kids started showing them off on their Page and they blew up. 10 years ago only watch people knew about AP. Now it seems people who have no clue about watches are talking about AP. The lower attention factor of the VC is a plus for me

Between the two, AP for me for sure. Can't understand the VC Gen lll chrono. All the things that I liked about the Gen ll are gone... Guillouce dial, Big date, and case/bezel design. The Gen lll doesn't interest me at all.

"Patek Nautilus Terminator" LOL.

I have to say I like the new Overseas models and hope they do well for VC.

Royal Oak all day. The RO is a classic design, the VC while being an old design is not a classic in my opinion. No matter what Vacheron does with it, it will never have the same residual value as the AP because it's just not a design that appeals to most. And to have good residuals you need people who actually want to buy it. I don't know anyone who wants to buy that VC.

I sold my VC Chrono overseas even though it fit extremely well, I sold it for the AP Royal Oak Pride of italy because the dial was bit boring in my mind as well. The AP RO chrono is really beautiful but it is less readable than the VC.

As far as resale, the VC is terrible and must be bought at a sufficient discount to make it worth while. I also took a hit on the Italy as I had bought it new. The 39 roc was sold at a proift , but bought used and well. Hope it helps.
