5711-010 prices trends

guys, hope everyone is safe.
just a question, is anyone noticing any drop in the 5711 steel prices or prices are still the same? i have done a bit of research and things are still between the 60-70K for an unworn one.
not sure what you are seeing, but interested if you have insights.

thanks.

EWC had 2 5712's for 58k us. The prices are coming down id say a 5711 right now for good condition and year will be around 55-56k if not a little bit less

In Munich one of the two big established preowned dealers had listed a nice preowned 5711 blue from 2017 at EUR 58 or 59k that sold last week. For comparison, the same dealer has an unworn 5712 from 2019 listed at EUR 62k. My sense is that the 5712 has come down some more since the mid-2019 peak than the 5711 blue (15-20% vs 10% or less).

58k by a 5711 blue without 2 years warranty? I’m afraid that any unworn blue would be near 70k...

In my opinion, most of these hot models are gonna be up due to the lockdown of the PP facilities...

I also think the hot models will remain strong at current levels due to lack of new supply.

Best you can do is throw out offers. If the 5712 is same price I’d go for that no doubt.

I believe there will be a slow decline to something approaching retail + 25% over the next 2-3 years. Common sense has to prevail at some point and the Covid effect means the number of buyers willing to pay huge premiums rather than wait will be far lower.

I’ve noticed this too. Six months ago a 5712 would be in the 70s and they were listing 5711s for $65k. To be clear, I’m only talking about EWC.

I used to feel this way, too, but the closing down of the production facilities for watches in Switzerland combined with the ramping up of the facilities for printing money, particularly in the U.S. has me wondering. Additionally, all the newly printed money is going to the same small group of people who had plenty to begin with and they are the ones who buy top tier luxury watches.
We may already have seen the pullback in prices. V shaped recovery.

These 5712's were from 2013ish I believe and visibly worn. Had they been in better condition and/or newer they'd easily be 60k+

1 month ago EWC had a 2020 BNIB 5712 offered at $65,500 & they were willing to deal from there, I know this since I was in contact w/ them about the piece. They also had a 2020 BNIB 5711 @ $59,900.

WB is selling a preowned 5711 at 81,950. Trend appears to be up!

The Greys will push to keep the Momentum on watches going, as all savvy Market makers do, and while Covid provided a good chance of a grey swan to change the market direction the Mo is too strong on this, esp with the wealthier classes.

I was/am hoping it would be much less, but unfortunately I have to agree with this

Ha dream on dear friends- not going to happen -all that will happen which history reveals- these pieces will always hold their values and continue to go up in price, as evidenced by PP recent price increases . :-))

It will happen at some point, the Nautilus will not always be so hot and will always be available to those willing to wait at MSRP.

I think they are coming down. Seems to be a few around 50k to 60k UK£ and I’m sure they were more 70k to 80k a while ago.

The 5711 was maybe touching 65-70 at the peak, the 5712 was over 70, the 5711 RG was over 100K at one point.

I’ve seen a clear uptick in the last few months.

Haven't been wearing mine at all this year. Tempting time as ever to let one go. Not been analyzing the price trends but they seem to be holding pretty strong.

If Mr Russell says it’s coming down, I will believe him because this is a guy who got a 6007 from Patek. This guy knows his stuff. The 5711 is a great watch to make you the alpha male in the room. Let’s face the truth. But as a watch it’s very average. The older ones didn’t even have a hacking function for crying out loud.

And how many folks who pursue a 5711 know what a hacking function is, or care?

Precisely!

I was nitpicking between lume on the previous versions (pre 2018) aquanaut being greener, and the newer one being a more white look. I ended up really liking the newer version in the flesh, but when I tried discussing it with some of my friends (some that have an aqua, some that had and others that want one), nobody even cared to look for a difference.

I'm definitely not saying I'm any better for caring, I should probably get a life myself to care so much about such minute things
Point is, outside of this forum, most people really do not care about these tiny details. They want a 5711 or 5167 or whatever other reference because it's THE watch to have, they can afford it, and it is a "statement" or maybe an investment of some form.

Ha - I have been wondering if they also changed the lume on the 5711 blue. Photos of brand new watches often look like the hour markers now have whitish lume whereas the hands are often greenish still. Saw the same on the photo of a piece that had gotten a new dial at Patek service. Kinda inconsistent if the were true IRL.

Noticed the same, and that was my worry when I recently acquired a 5167.
Whether the hands would be brighter than the index or the other way round, but thankfully it all matched. Surprisingly very crisp and vibrant in the flesh with the white, quite like it. I must say, I am not fond of the mismatch that I often see on newer nautiluses (including 5740). It is indeed very inconsistent.

But as said earlier, we are the few that care, the vast majority don't.
