datejust II vs datedate II

if both watches are 41 mm case are they both the same case- if both made in 18k? is the movement in the datedateII improved over the previous datedate movement? Is this just a size update, could the older datedate movment be placed or slightly modified into a 18k DateJust 41mm 18case for less then a newer datedateII? sorry my mind is just wondering a bit today, and wondering if i could convert a older style watch into the new fangled 2009 collection if i already own a president movment. (imagine the datejustII case to be less then the daydateII altho they are both 18k and the same size and appear similar. thank you in advance

Maybe if you designed a frankinwatch it would work....Rolex wont even sell dials so i dought you can order just a II watchcase.....and i believe that even if you could it would not be a whole lot cheaper than buying the case and movement.

As far as I'm aware, the movements have been slightly modified so that the date wheels are slightly larger, which (certainly in the case of the DJ II) has prompted a change in caliber name (3135 ==> 3136). As for your plan, I don't believe there's any way to order just an empty case from Rolex, if they did that, then it would surely perpetuate counterfeiting.
