A bought a new watch....

And it is a Panerai 104
I found out that I am having a son and wanted to celebrate it with a new watch. I wanted a Rolex due to its long time collect ability, they never go out of style. The only problem is that I am not in love with any of them. I have 2 DJ's, and I am waiting for the SUB to get updated. It will be a long time until the 41mm DD's are out, and I do not think I want to spend that kind of money right before my first kid is born too.

I think the 104 looks nicer, and has the coolness of collecting straps. I will look forward to telling him stories about my watch and especially look forward to passing this one down(when he is a lot older).

Thanks for all the advice on PAM vs FER models. I really like the feel of the FER watches, and liked the style too. It was a tough choice but I chose a classic look over the cool FER style. I think I may end up getting a FER watch too, but it might not be as suitable for this occasion, maybe next year.

Thank you for reading.

Congrats on the 104.Great choice in the Panerai world !! Wearing mine today on a GSD Horween Chocolate, black stitch and edges/Polished GSD buckle.Perhaps my favourite strap for the 104.

I dont like the standard deployant clasp and find the alligator to short or my liking.I prefer the buckle straps. The one i refered too,is a Greg Stevens strap.

I like the deployment clasp. It is a big reason I chose the 104. I am lucky that I am from Louisiana, there is a nice old fashioned alligator leather store. I bought a gator belt there. I might see if he will do a custom strap in peanut butter brittle or other colors.

Excellent choice for first PAM. The Ferrari watch can be obtained at a later date most likely.

Will be nice if they can.The leather shops my way dont want to do the watchstraps. The thin leather and the hand stitching a problem.Personally,I think they are just lazy !!

Thanks guys, thanks dman. The hardest part of getting the watch is waiting for my son to be born. Two times the suspense lol.
