Ouroboros tattoo?

Ouroboros tattoo? Just pondering getting one that won’t be easily seen. The Ouroboros is a sign of infinity. I don’t have any tattoos and I haven’t decided. What do you think? Back of neck. Shoulder blade.

Not always an easy decision on where to have your first, especially if you don't want it easily seen.

From the two places you've mentioned, do you wear your hair up or do you wear off-the-shoulder clothes most often? If your hair is up more often than you bare your shoulders, then the shoulder would be the logical place.

In my view, something like that would look pretty cool around your ankle. Worth thinking about

It would look cool on your wrist. Your watch would obscure it when you don’t want it on display.

Love it. Around your belly button. Or on your solar plexus.

The best looking tattoo one can have is the one you’re not going to have. If you don’t have any tattoos yet just don’t.

While this is my personal opinion too... Each to his/her own of course.

But I would really think about it.

I almost did one when I was 19. A stupid Superman logo would have been my pick... I'm glad I just about sobered up enough not to have it made!

Tattoos, used to be cool, but when everyone has them, you're the special one on the beach without any tattoos.

Best don't start getting tattooed. You'll always want to add more because you'll never be satisfied. Ink spreads slowly.

I agree with most of the comments here. Don't get any tattoos. You will most likely regret it down the road. Have an artist paint a picture and hang it on your wall!

I'm siding with the majority here and saying if you've gone this long without body ink, are you sure you want to start now?

Iirc, you're a doctor right? Call me old fashion, and hopelessly politically incorrect, but I'm not convinced that it's the image you want to portray. But that's just me.

If you're determined to do it, than more power to you though. After all, you're more than just your profession and are entitled to self expression, however you choose.

I like the idea of an ankle tattoo as the easiest to conceal. I assume of course you wear socks to work.

Better still, maybe a Henna instead. Just so that there's no regerts.

I have never seen a woman that looks better with a tattoo than without.
Sorry. Please don't.

I would tend to agree with that, you may as well take advantage of the shape you are showing us and get it rolled around your ankle or forearm (my two choices).

That is something I would keep in mind. I like tattoos and will get some one day but I know it will spread around my body very quickly. If you are like me, be preprared.

Apart from that, I would not worry about regrets or how people will see you. I have yet to see a person with a tattoo telling me about regretting it, it always seems to come from people who don't have any in my neck of the woods. As far as presenting yourself, with more or less a quarter of the population having some nowadays I'll be darned if we don't get used to it at some point, especially when tattoos have been around for centuries.

Sure why not? Life is short and it’s not like you’re some 22 year old making a drunk decision on spring break

Back shoulder sounds good.

Agreed. I grew up in the 1980s when the only guys with tattoos were military or bikers. I was neither so it was never really something I ever wanted to do. Plus, my tastes have changed as I've gotten older and something I thought was cool in my 20s I'd think was stupid and immature today.

Hey, tattoo removal is a thriving business though. Must be a lot of regret out there.

I always thought the desmo valve train would make a cool tattoo but I'll never do it.

I am quite heavily tattooed. I am happy with the results.

That said, as with all decisions in life, I would have done it differently if I could go back. I'd have full sleeves instead of several tattoos on each arm and leg.

If you go ahead with this, then finding a tattoo artist with skills way beyond those of the average tattoo artist is very very important.

I had this topical conversation years ago with Mrs. BC. While she wasn't actively pursuing a tattoo, she asked my opinion of them and I replied that they're probably OK on some guys but tattoos often have a way of cheapening a woman's appearance.

That said, I bought her a TT Santos Dumont instead and she seems pacified (for now).

my ex had a few rather large tattoos, I found it rather distasteful, my current girlfriend has one under her arm that I don't mind, its more that it's just there for me. I kind of got mine on a whim with her and like it but glad I have it somewhere it's concealed 99% of the time, it peaks through my Italian loafers which I feel will probably bother me eventually as I wear no show socks

Surely you mean Ragret?

I grew up in the 80-ties too. My father has a Tattoo from his Navy days. He hates it today. Says it looks like he was in prison.

I think deep down he likes it, as it has been with him for 55 years.

Agree. I have one, got it in my younger Harley riding days. Wish I never had.
My wife has none. We are in our mid 50's and stuff like this we feel does not improve ones appearance. But to each his/her own. BTW, we will never encourage our 2 daughters to ever get ink. We tell them they are beautiful as they are and to be content.

I must disagree with the most on this thread. You want a tattoo, get it. If you are a professional, get something beautiful that you can wear with pride.
Do not be concerned with other peoples opinions. I am heavily tattooed and work with people much more affluent then I. They are more interested on as to why I am wearing a five thousand dollar watch as to my choice of ink.
I have tattoos because they make ME happy, not to appease anyone else.

With that being said, you are an adult and be certain its something that you can be happy with forever.

Just venting, if I upset anyone please remember I love this forum and everyone on it :)

PS - My mother wanted to kill me when I came home on my first leave with a tattoo!

I can relate a lot to Beo3.

For many, tattoos are for them. Not for others. My ink is a chronological map of my life.

I went through a phase where I thought I’d not get anymore. But I’m now in the phase where I’m ready for some serious time in the chair.

Tattoos have a lot of meaning, depending on who is getting them. The OP is clearly doing this for herself, and asking advise on placement.

Much of what we do as humans is a reflection of who we are. And who we are hoping to be. Tattoos are no different. They help remind us of moments from the past, they help focus on beliefs in the present, and they help us strive for hope in the future.

Tattoos are a form of art and they are a form of expression. For many of us, simply for ourselves.

How others perceive us and how we look at the beach, is typically not of too much concern

OP, if you go for that tat, don't go too small and get a SERIOUSLY skilled artist with excellent line work. Something like that can go south in a hurry and there's no fixing it.

Here is one of my favorite tats:
