considered the 39mm explorer? pretty clean. i'm not nuts about the oversized numerals but it's got a lot of positives in terms of simplicity without being boring, and excellent proportions.

Either DJ41 or 36. However, much will depend on your wrist size and shape i.e. is your wrist round or flat? As for which is more comfortable, then you'll need to try them on and see what works for you.

With the adjustment of the Glidelock on a Sub, they can be supremely comfortable.

DJ36 is too old school for a 29 year old. DJ41 is better.

You can never ever go wrong with a SubC LN or 114060 but neither are going to slip under sleeve's cuff.

There will be an update for Sub on Basel 18. No?

Go with the DJ41 but consider the fluted bezel and Oyster bracelet if you are worried about too much flash. Remember the DJ41 has the new 32xx movement with 70 hr power reserve among other improvements.

It’s got to be a Datejust. Be it 36, 41 or DJ2.

My preference is the baton dial DJ2’s with fluted, but there is so much choice in the DJ lineup you’re bound to find a model that sings to you.

All great choices. Just depends on what fits your wrist and budget the best. I went with an Explorer I as part of my collection. One DJ I like very much is a white dial Roman on a Jubilee. That’s a great looking watch.

I have the DJ41 fluted jubilee champagne dial. While I really like the watch it is an attention grabber. With you working in the govt sphere, don't know how much attention you want to grab..unless working along side Mr. Putin. He enjoys a nice watch!
If you can do without the date I recommend the explorer, light, comfortable, easy to wear, flys low but is also beautiful.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest this...and even so, what difference would it make?

Bought one in September and it is quite comfortable. I am not of the opinion men today need to wear a leather strap on their business watch. The jubilee is dressy enough yet you can wear it with anything dressed down also. Go for it.

Try both DJ blue sizes on and whichever fits better is your new daily. You can not go wrong with that decision.

DJ41 seems to be the best option for you, in my opinion. In its simplest form (oyster, not fluted) it is an extremely smart looking and non-flashy watch.

Well, I don’t know if this would apply in Russia, but over a twenty year period I wore a wide variety of nice watches in my workplace and...no one noticed!!! If you are concerned, survey what others are wearing and discretely ask around but honestly, I don’t think it matters based on my own experience. My main Watch was a no date Sub, but I also wore a TT blue dial DJ, Omega Moonwatch, and a SS DJ black face on jubilee. Buy what sings to you and don’t worry about it.

I do like the DJ 41 blue face on jubilee for what it’s worth.

I know, that it is off-topic, but what do You think about this limited UN? It suggested for me for half of its price.

Russian government? Platinum Day Date 40mm with diamonds on one wrist, platinum daytona on the other, plus a 2 spares of each in your desk, at home, and in each of your Maybachs.

I had the same dilemma last Friday evening. Went to the local AD tried on DJ36, DJ41, OP36, OP39, Milgauss white dial, eventually left the store with the Explorer 1.
36mm was too small, hands on the 39 OP were too thin, cyclops on the datejust didn't appeal. The explorer is perfect for me, under the radar, classy piece, even though I could do with a date and the Milgauss was offered at the same retail price as the explorer as "new old stock" a reduction of €1,450 I still passed on the Milgauss and chose the explorer 1.
Love it, and it's my one and only daily wearer from here on in.
