I'm trying to figure out the stock market.........................

Is there a way to find out what percentage of the American people are into the stock market?

I don't mean companies and professional investors but the average american Joe.

A Google search will provide almost endless statistics. Filtering the information is the challenge.

Would that include 401K's. Cause that would add a significant amount.

A large number of people have missed the six-year bull market. More than half of Americans, 52 percent, are currently not investing in the stock market—either by buying individual stocks or mutual funds, or through a retirement account such as a 401(k) or IRA, according to a new Bankrate.com survey.Apr 9, 2015

Agreed.

And by most objective measures the average person is under invested in the markets especially millennials.

From a fundamental point of view, that is a bullish sign as there is more cash to be invested.
