German Beauty

As you can tell by the date, I took these a while ago but haven't had time to get them posted. This is my Glashütte Original PanoReserve in stainless steel.....

First, a wide shot - nice case finish, very nice strap......but that dial is the kicker for me.

Very big date!! Note the clean, crisp edges of the date window.

The dial finish is very well done, as is the printing.....

Made in Saxony.......the circular machining for the dials is well defined - this is the sub seconds dial.

Full power!! The machining of the power reserve section is just flawless....

The way the dials run together is very well done, and I love those applied markers on the main dial.

Possibly the only area that can rival the finish and detail of the dial on this watch, is the movement.........here is the balance area showing the shock protection, hair spring, and details of one of the swans neck regulators.......

Here is a larger view of one of the swans neck regulators.......

On a Swiss watch I would call these Geneva bars (Côtes de Genève) but if they are done in Glashütte, are they Glashütte bars????? These are done on the massive 3/4 plate.....

48 rubies.........

In addition to the 3/4 plate, screwed gold chatons are part of the German watchmaking tradition......

Hope you enjoy these photos!

Dude...

... where is the salivating icon when you need one??

One day... One day...
I will have a Glashutte in my lifetime. Every week just about I go to the AD and play with one and I just can't get over the fit and finish, and over the fact that a Glashutte is actually art work that keeps time.

Simply amazing.

What I really like about the silver dials on the Glashutte (and his little brother Union Glashutte) watches are the flecks on the dials. GO, UG probably make some of the most stunning dials on earth, in terms of finish. Just works of art!

Thanks to all for your comments.

I agree the dials are quite the thing on these watches. Unfortunately the pictures don't show that sparkle very well - I will attempt to get some sunlight photos when the sun is actually available. With this being the shortest day of the year, I go to work in the dark, and go home in the dark....

I forgot today was winter equinox. The upside is, the days now start getting longer.

...and it was our Summer equinox...making today the longest day of the year. Which also means from tomorrow our days are going to get shorter...but will be really noticeable only by mid-Feb. or so.
