So does anyone plan to get the Chopard Alpine Eagle?

Sorry for the poor quality photo. Of all the Nautilus and Royal Oak inspired watches that I have tried in person, Chopard is the best. I feel this easily trumps GP Laureato and Piaget Polo in overall finish and quality for the time-only models. The steel has a sheen which is comparable to luster of WG or so I thought. IMO, it is a great buy even if you have Nautilus or Royal Oak in your collection or aspire to buy them in the future. It would have been perfect if there was no date but then which watch is perfect?

I am really smitten by it and thinking of picking one up when it hits the preowned market in the $6k-$8k.

The date window location kills it for me-
Terrible IMO

Same here, it’s otherwise very impressive. I think of all the models inspired by the RO/Nautilus I still prefer (and almost bought!) the newest Laureato. In person it’s excellent and can be had for 7-8k new which I think is a great value

Agree - I prefer the look of the Laureato and would disagree it’s “easily trumped” by the Alpine Eagle. Not that the Chopard isn’t a great watch, but simply “different strokes for different folks”.

I have a blue VC Overseas and wanted a more neutral steel sports watch as well. After considering both of these models I chose the gray dial Laureato and love the watch.

Saw it in the flesh in Prague last november. Didnt jump at me.

At 10K eur, would prefer other watches.

Nice bracelet though.

The laureato and polo also dont sing to me.

Haven’t you inadvertently implied that this watch is in actuality NOT worth buying? It’s a pretty watch for sure, but as you said...nobody in their right mind would pay more than half retail.

Except for it being a mechanical movement, here is nothing I like about this watch.

Lacking balance.

Pretty strong comments in this thread. Safe to say this won’t be flying off the shelves at ADs.

I wanted to like it despite the widespread online beating that it took due to sharing of certain design elements from a few different popular stainless sports watches. Great steel, great dial, nice movement, and oddly I think the date window works. However after seeing several times in the shop, I’m afraid this one is not coming home to my safe. Main two complaints: strange bracelet design and inconsistently aligned screw slots on the bezel (I have held and tried several examples). I own LUC examples and respect Chopard but this one’s not a winner.

There are elements that I like about it, such as the dial color, movement, bracelet, and the steel they use. However, I don't like Roman numerals on sport watches, or how it evolved from the St. Moritz, and how the bezel just became completely round and how the case grew "Nautilus-style" ears. For me it's a miss. I would rather have a GP Laureato.

I like it, especially the dial, but I think the date looks out of place. Regardless, sport luxury watches are not really my thing.

It is on my “considering” list. Need to try one on and prices for me need to be like a $6-7 (so used)
