Incoming!!!

Good morning TRF! I've been going back and forth on purchasing this watch for a while. I finally decided to move forward and pick it up yesterday. I'm now a happy owner of the Tudor Pelagos. The no b.s. look and attitude of this watch really appeals to me. It's a fine piece that flies under the radar.

I've gathered the technical info from Tudor's website and the rest of what's here is just my observation and opinions about the Tudor Pelagos after having owned and worn it for 24 hours. I hope this post becomes a helpful reference for those curious and interested in this watch.

Here are some quick specs:
- Satin finished 42mm titanium case
- Sapphire crystal (doesn't seem to have any AR coating, though I've read on various forum threads it has AR applied to its underside)
- Gas Release Valve
- Steelinox screw down crown
- Uni-directional rotating titanium bezel with black ceramic disc (it's injected with either chromalite or superluminova, I'm not sure, but it's pretty intense)
- Satin finished titanium bracelet with steelinox folding clasp, safety catch, and diver's extension with innovative automatic micro adjust system
- Waterproof to 500m/1640 feet
- ETA 2824 top-grade [Rolex modified] movement w/ up to 38 hour power reserve

I just want to say before getting into anything else about this watch that I do not have an issue with Rolex/Tudor using a [Rolex modified] top-grade ETA 2824 movement in this watch. First, the movement has proven itself to be reliable over time. Second, it's an easy movement to service. Third, for those who are turning their noses up at Tudor for using an [Rolex modified] ETA movement instead of an in-house manufacture; many main stream watch companies have been using ETA and modified ETA movements in their watches and selling them at a premium for years, and the masses have been buying them -- I'm not so sure why it's become such a prevalent issue with this watch and brand. Perhaps because Tudor doesn't have the main stream name brand recognition of Om-ga, Br-itling, I-C, etc.

The titanium case has a matte finish with nicely beveled edges and tapered lugs. I find the finish to be superb. The 42mm diameter case has a flat solid case back, sits flush, and wears comfortably on my wrist. The steelinox crown is protected by pointed crown guards. The gas release valve is placed on the left side of the case.

The square hour markers, triangle marker at 12, and rectangular markers at 6 and 9, are applied to the handsome matte black dial. No cyclops over the date window. The date window lines up perfectly with the 3 o'clock marker and looks to be the same size as the 9 o'clock marker. This design detail helps keep the dial as symmetrical as possible. The dial seems to sit rather high and close to the crystal, but doesn't look flat since it is flanged. It is clearly legible, and the snowflake hour hand looks great.

The bezel is matte ceramic, similar to current Rolex production models but without the polished shine. The material is also injected with a luminous compound that makes the hash lines and numbers on the bezel glow.

The bracelet is well made and modeled after the Rolex oyster bracelet. While construction seems great it's a very sharp bracelet which pulls on every arm hair any chance it gets. I'm sure wearing it on the provided rubber strap will take care of this. One of the coolest things about the bracelet is its clasp. It's similar to the Rolex easy glide system, but then takes it a step further. Theres a neat mechanism incorporated which allows the bracelet to micro adjust on its own as ones wrist expands and contracts. Tudor includes a rubber strap in the box as well as a rubber diver's extension strap. The tang buckle is designed after the top of the Tudor shield logo.

Tudor has definitely taken it's design cues from Rolex, but I really like the fact that it is not a Rolex knock off. My opinion is they have designed this watch very thoughtfully and tastefully.

So for the past 24 hours I've been very pleased wearing this watch and would recommend it to anyone on the fence about making the purchase.

Thank you all! Although I read much on the forum here I don't post very often. But I must say I appreciate the genuine enthusiasm towards watches, level of intellect, and camaraderie here on TRF. Best watch forum around!

Love it. I may get one someday. Only downside is it doesn't fit under my dress shirt cuffs.
