Tough call...

1. Patek 5990- Chrono/travel time/black dial
2. Patek 5726- AC/moon phase/silver-white dial

Now if it were 4, then that would be perfect.

3. Patek 5712- moon phase, date, blue dial
4. Rolex Hulk, date, rotating ceramic bezel and a gorgeous green dial

1. 16610 with Tritium Dial: It's the quintessential Rolex, but also the perfect execution of a dive watch that is so elegantly designed it can be worn with a tuxedo. In many ways it's inferior to the 116610, but the case shape is perfect (IMHO) and although it was introduced 20+ years ago, it has a sapphire crystal, a 3135 movement, can still be used to scuba dive, and has the X factor of developing patina. [This was a tough choice though, since I have a gorgeous Tudor 76100 Blue Sub, but the acrylic crystal and overall age don't really make it a functional diver.]

2. Tudor 79270 Pre-Tiger: An odd choice, I know, but the Rolex case and crown version with enamel white panda dial would balance so well with the black dial of the 16610. In addition to having a sapphire crystal (which the "Big Blocks" don't), it also adds chronograph, second time zone, and a date to the equation (plus an added bonus of rarity). And for the uninitiated, it has screw-down pushers and a triplock crown, so in some ways it's the be-all-end-all watch.

Honorable mention go to the Omega Speedmaster Professional (Hesalite), the BLRO "Batman", and my blue faced 1969 Tudor Date+Day Jumbo.

Within reason

Rolex only -
LVc + RG DD40 w/ the olive dial

AP only -
15202r + 26400io

Not within reason ? ;D

A perfect example of a 6538 and a Patek 1518 in SS ;>

I know man! I wanted to go with 5970, it being the last of the Lemania movements Perpetual Chronos, but I may just stick with my 5712.

As for Rolex, I don't think I have ever been more enamoured by a watch then the BLRO WG, I like a hefty watch and it fits perfectly for all occasions.

Since we aspire to more.. probably flip my collection to get a 5970P just to have the same value as the current collection.

Four is too easy! Two is a tough choice. Now would you really go with two nautilus? They are quite dainty. I would choose your 3rd and 4th as my top 2 instead.

1) Patek Phillipe 5970G (white gold)
2) Rolex COMEX-issued 16600

You did say skies' the limit :-)

Hahahaha not far from my choices! Yes to the 5970G, the white/silver dial is versatile, personally I would go with the 5970J or the 5970P or the ultimate 5970G with Salmon dial.

For Comex, I would go 1665 Comex. Other than that keep dreaming!

My beaters in weekly rotation, very usable not blingy, but functional!

They have followed me around for years.......

Tough choice, but I would keep my Daytona and my Pepsi. I just find these two watches so iconic of the Rolex brand. One is a real tool watch and the other a luxury sports watch.

If I ever get to the point that I am down to two watches only, I'll post.

Until then, I'll just chug along with the 20 or so I have now.
