I think if the platona is a possibility, that's the direction I would go. TBH, I would rather have that than both the WG and the YG...and that's a big statement for me. |

It definitely needs the ceramic bezel. It looks almost 'naked' to me without it. With the bezel it would be on my list in a heartbeat.

I have the white gold/blue dial version, which suits me fine. What still surprises me is how much more 'special' the gold versions feel. In fact, I sold my ceramic steel version because I stopped wearing it.
It's the sort of thing you can only find out for yourself.....a weird thing really, but it does feel quite different. I assume it's all in the mind, but that doesn't stop it being 'real'. Is the gold worth the cost....probably. Well, for me, definitely. |

Great photo! In my head I always end up going back to this one out of all of the newer daytonas.
My Yellow Gold YMII scratches so much / easily it does make me lean a little more towards platinum (not that it scratches less, but if you polish platinum you're not removing a layer of metal, just pushing it around) Case, how does the Rolex white gold hold up for scratches, wonder if it's less noticeable compared to Yellow Gold visually.

It's certainly eyecatching. Neither yellow gold nor green are really my style- I don't think I could pull it off.
If I was Irish and had one I'd definitely wear it on St Patricks day! The steel dial looks great on the 115619 with the black ceramic bezel, but on the WG bezel it looks maybe a little 'washed out'. The black bezel between the dial and the case can act as a 'picture frame' with the right amount of contrast. I feel that way about the white dial SS model 116520 vs white dial 116500LN too, and the Platona without its ceramic bezel would be a more boring piece. |

It's become one of my favorite watches that I know I will never sell. Looks amazing in person and a chameleon in different lights...all the way from gunmetal to even slightly pinkish in hue with some lights. This is the white gold 116509 with the steel panda dial I'm talking about heh.

I believe it must be a fantastic piece in person, I do not understand why Rolex uses these so simple images on their site.

If you can do the platinum, do that. The ice blue dial and brown ceramic bezel and chronograph register bezels looks sooooo nice. The yellow gold with the green dial is truly beautiful too, but a matching green ceramic bezel would complete the package. The white gold is a nice understated piece as well but I'd prefer a black ceramic bezel on it. Regardless, you have a nice problem on your hands.

I love the OF bracelet but I don't think I would ever own one unless I had 3-4 other Daytona's in my collection....then at that point I'd probably never wear the OF.
