I don’t think so but if it is not pressure tested correctly then there could be exposure to external elements

PP have been working hard at getting their infamous turnaround times down, but I hope not at the expense of basic QC.

That's my guess as well- exposed to air & humidity & for some time. (Maybe a bad crown gasket/seal?) Doesn't seem like it's possible it passed Geneva QC that way.

At any rate, I would demand (politely, but very firmly) a 100% return for full refund immediately. A reputable AD shouldn't give you a problem. How you'll get another one is the problem, but job #1 is getting the full refund for that one.

Is this supposed to be new from AD? If yes, its definitely not acceptable. But if you have inspected before you took delivery at the store, it might be hard to argue. Anyway, hope you get the issues resolved.

It is a step in the right direction. I'm beginning to wonder if NOT being independent may actually work in their favor at this point. Weren't their rumors recently of a buyout?

For new old stock (discontinued models) Patek has a system where AD’s send the piece for a free Service before it is sold. I wonder if the local service centre have wiped the hands and left a residue which needs cleaning off.

Doesn’t look right at all. And while you will get micro scratches, the point is a new watch just unsealed should not have any micro scratches. There is a story behind this watch that the AD is not telling you is my opinion.

These rumors have been going around for years. Personally, it's time they sell to a company that can bring PP back to the quality and service they were once known for.

If anyone from PP is reading this, you know it's time to either revamp production, service dept and QC, or sell to someone who can bring PP back their former glory.

+1

even after failing multiple QC gates, that watch should never have left the AD

just bring it back to the dealer after wear it for some time, they will send it back and take care of it for you. similar things happened to me a couple of times thru out the years, I doubt they would refund or return, but fixing it probably gonna take 2 months or so.

Very good to hear you got a full refund. The watch did not look new and appears to have been opened by someone which would account for the whatever it is on the hands.

Curious if you plan to go with a different PP, a different AD, or a different direction altogether? It is unfortunate to have that experience with PP - especially for a watch I'm saving up for now!

what did the AD say in regards to the condition of the watch? was it indeed brand new or possibly a previous return?

There's a story, but the AD will never tell you. Regardless, good on the AD for doing the right thing.

Great to hear the AD was able to refund fully. I’m sure the piece had a visit to the spa due to being new old stock as is the agreement with Patek and the hands were wiped at this point. Another quick visit and all will be good again.

I am glad your AD made this right. It is somewhat disappointing though as I am sure you would have liked to have the watch but have it be right. I am surprised they did not offer you something else interesting. Let us know where you go from here on another purchase.
