Newcomer Here. Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone,

I am also a newbie on this forum.

I have been "collecting" watches for the past 4 years. I started with an inconspicuous little Seiko 5, which my wife offered to me (on my demand ;) ). Since then, and like many of us, I caught the watch bug.

I must admit that I am not a big Rolex fan. I respect the products for what they are. I admire Rolex for being able to scale up, producing high quality industrial products and managing the offer & demand so well. But I am left cold by their pricing policy, and all the hype around the brand.

On the other side, I am more and more attracted to its smaller sibling, Tudor. The way I see it, Tudor is redeployed to take the place vacated by Rolex after their move-up in terms of positioning. The watches they produce are (for those that interest me) rugged, ready-to-do-everything, toolwatches.

I also came to learn about the history behind Seiko, and learnt as much as I could (which is not much by all standards) about its past, Grand Seiko and King Seiko.

At some point, I also became interested in German watch brands and manufactures (don't ask me why, I cannot remember how I ended up there).

All this time spent reading articles, looking at photos and videos, and discussing with other WIS, shaped my current "collection".

I registered on TRF because I am always looking to learn new things, and to (virtually) meet new WIS. So here am I!

PS: I'm from France. Please don't hold it against me

Love that BB Chrono with gold in it. From that angle, it looks a lot larger than the GMT. Does it wear larger?

I love it too (I'd better do given I purchased it ;-) ). You are right, the chrono looks larger than the GMT. I had the same feeling when I put them on my wrist yesterday to look at them both.

Funny given that both watches are sporting the same case. I guess that it's due to the Chrono having a larger dial and a smaller bezel.

It adds to the differences between these 2 models (and I am glad that there are differences given that I don't like having variations of the same models).

That's a valid remark. But it is unlikely.

The Damasko that I have already covers that angle. I actually spent some time thinking whether to go with a DA36 or a Sinn 556A.

I went for the underdog (all thing considered) because I believe that Damasko's hardened steel is more resistant than Sinn's tegimented one.
The DA36 has a modified ETA 2436 (instant change of date and day at midnight - on the dot) compared to a Sellita SW200. And I love that yellow seconds hand

And to be honest, the rest of the models on Sinn's catalog doesn't do it for me :(

I had a couple of Junghans Meister in the past, but they are too dressy for me.

If I were to look at other German brands, I would consider Nomos, Moser or Glasshute. ALS is too highly placed for me.
