I am about to buy a 116618 from Bob's Watches. He has a 3-day money back guarantee.

Where can I take it to be authenticated?

There should be no shortage of watchmakers in NYC that are able to authenticate the watch. A reputable watchmaker should remove the case back to verify the movement, and remove the bracelet to verify the reference number and serial number engraved between the lugs. The watch will also have the laser etched coronet on the crystal at the 6 O'clock position which can be viewed with a jewelers loupe. Hopefully the watch you are buying has both inner and outer boxes, manuals, original warranty certificate, and both hang tags as these all help to establish the provenance. I have purchased a few watches from Bob's Watches, and have always been pleased, but you can never be too careful.

There's a couple out in the Hamptons (which may be closed this time of year), but Tourneau in the Walt Whitman Mall is the most centrally located Rolex AD on the island.
