Whoa. Not sure it’s the same AD. Was this at John Bull in Atlantis? The had pretty hefty security there and I don’t think they were open at 11pm, but I could be wrong. Seems pretty brazen. Either way, I’m looking forward to getting home.

- At this point I think she’d just be more pissed if I came home with more than one bag. And, while at the casino I didn’t go back to the ATM for the third time and I think we’d both consider that as a small win. All jokes aside, she’s really pretty awesome and understands the passion and my relationship with timepieces. It was something my father and I shared and he’s no longer around so she she’s more than patient with me in these kind of things.

Packing up and headed home. It’s been a long, short trip. Getting too old for this shit. I need a nap. Cheers!

Crazy! It really was. Now that is brazen! I’ll tell you what, based on what I saw in the display those guys made off with some amazing timepieces. That sucks! Wonder if they got just the display stuff or safe items too. They had a couple $30k+ pieces in the display, but sounds like they had a lot more in the back.

So tell me ..is the AD in Grand Cayman or Turks & Caicos or elsewhere?
I know both well as I live in Turks and have business in Grand Cayman.

Be interested to know as its quite unusual not to ship from these locations given that much trade from passenger ship tourists.

I didn’t see any. Just glad I got there when I did. Would have been pretty frustrating if the place was closed or the Hulk stolen. Just glad no one was hurt.

It was John Bull at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.

Ending sucked.
Not much of a story when all he wanted to do was flip it for a quick buck.

Not the end for me. Selling this one and the BLNR to fund the grail. If anyone knows of a good deal on a WG Smurf, I'm finally in a position to make it happen.

Lol wasn’t talking about ur endgame.

Just referring to how u just wanted to be on the hulk waiting list at the AD on the first post.
Sounded like u really wanted the hulk.

Didn’t realize u wanted the hulk so u can flip it right away for ur “grail” piece.

Next time keep the story to ur self and do what u gotta do to achieve ur grail.

The intent of this post wasn't to tell a story, it was a request for due diligence from a relatively inexperienced purchaser (comparatively speaking). I do really want the Hulk (just not as much as I want the Smurf) and at the time I put my name on the wait list, the Smurf was just not going to be a reality for me.

At that time the secondary market wasn't going crazy and I didn't think that a WG Smurf would be a reality. That situation has changed and I'm taking advantage of the opportunity. I'm not looking to take advantage of anyone and the gentleman buying the watch is very happy that he's not paying $15k+. The buyer and I would both agree that I gave him a very fair deal given the market...I'm not gouging anyone and he's getting a relative deal on a watch he loves without having to wait for it. So what's the problem?

All of that said, here's my suggestion: I'll take your advice if you'll consider mine....I'll continue to "do what I gotta do" to achieve my grail and keep the ongoing story to myself and I'd encourage you to reserve your negative comments for the truly egregious.

Was about to say congrats then saw the outcome - guess I can't blame you the market is what it is and I'd definitely sell a Hulk to fund a Smurf - really an awesome piece! Pending congrats on the Smurf!

I have no problem with people using stepping stones to get to where they want to be.

I also have no problem with people buying watches and selling for profit.

Are my comments “negative” because I said we didn’t realize u were looking to flip the hulk for a quick profit?

Or is it because I advised u to keep such a story of flipping to urself, because I know how the forum views it?

Or is it because u just don’t agree with what I said about u being a flipper?

Can’t help it if u can’t handle the truth. Lol

Anyways, good luck with ur grail acquisition.

Yeah...OP, surely you must realize the current TRF climate re: flippers. There's a lot of resentment from potential watch buyers who really want a particular watch, only to watch it go out to the door to someone who turns around and sells it for profit.

There are a lot of us, myself included, who don't judge others for doing what they need to do to acquire their grail. But, you're being naive if you think that posting it here, on this forum, with the current climate, is not going to draw fire.

Good luck in your pursuit of the smurf.

Seems to me that given the time and resources spent to get the Hulk OP could have just set aside the $4k profit he stands to make in profit to buy the Smurf?

$4k is nothing to sneeze at but you’re collecting $10k watches and looking to upgrade to a $40k watch, so I assume you’ve got money and value your time.

This story reminds me of game of thrones lol and the way it ended. In any case, he did plant the seed at the very beginning when he told us he showed his wife what the hulk was selling for on the grey market.

Btw on a side note, you for sure owe this sales rep a tip now. I know you were asking before.

I’m not judging. It’s your watch. Your money. You were able to acquire it and went a long way to get it so good on your for the profit.
