I recently have seen a couple of F serial LV's sell for the low $4000. They are not demanding any kind of premium over other serial numbers.

During the release of the LV in 2003, Rolex was producing both Y and F at the same time..

It is likely that the assembly line had many of both serials already manufactured and in boxes prior to shipping to Dealers troughout the world..

Because the Y was an earlier release from a time line perspective, it is accepted that Y was the first issue..........

I do not believe that, nor do I see how a simple internet research effort could prove it...... I do not see how Rolex could, or even would, have separated some Y numbers only, made some watches, and shipped only those out to Dealers, completely bypassing the F numbers that were being used at the same time.. They do not produce one series.......stop all production, then gear up for the next letter.......there is considerable overlap.
