Rolex datejust 28 or 31

Hi
I'm considering to purchase my first rolex lady datejust. I'm 33 yeaes old and 5'4. I love the jubilee bracelet with silver dial and gold Roman numerals but not sure whether to get 28mm or 31mm. I have slender wrists and want something which is classic and does not get out of fashion as the trends change. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

Dressy or sporty? Personally, even on women, larger watches are better. I would not go smaller than 31mm, but even 36mm would be nice and gives you more options. 34mm might be on the sporty side. But since you say Jubilee, I'm guessing more dressy? There is a gorgeous 31mm MOP dial with Romans. What a watch...

I would suggest to go to your local Rolex dealer and try a few on. 28mm is too small, 31mm+.

Since you say your considering purchasing I'm thinking you haven't tried any on for size. I suggest trying on a 34mm. My wife's 5 7" W/ a 6" wrist and rocks a 36mm DJ. Not saying a 28 or 31 is wrong or too small but just thinking a 34 or 36 may be a good size to try as well. Happy Choosing...

Hi,
I find myself in the same situation. I'm looking to surprise my wife with a Datejust too. I think you are correct with the choice of jubilees & fluted bezel, I'm just finding it hard to choose the correct dial.
31mm is the perfect size too. 31mm 100% 👍🏽

Good luck.

My wife wears the 28m loves it, but her preference are always on the classic looking watches. she found the 31m and 36mm sizes to big for her. If you can try them at the store it will help you better, goodluck.

I'm have a 31 and 36. The 28 was too small. I think the 31 is perfect.

At least 31 mm. The smaller ones have gone out of production lately and give a strong, excessive, old fashion feeling.

They still have 28mm ones. They are still needed in the product lines. Some girls just can’t handle any watches bigger than 28mm

31 is too young for a 28. Go 36.
This is coming from the eye of a fashion photographer ;-)
Best way to decide is by trying them on, 28, 31, 36, 39... forget about rules, let your wrist rules the decision.
Waiting for some wrist shots.

Those very small sizes are the ones that have gone out of fashion. I would suggest looking at 34 or even 36 before deciding. Some great configurations available i.e. with the Jubilee bracelet.

It does not matter what fashion is, it is the best to fit her style and what she likes. The most fashion things are not for everyone.

I was referring to the OP's question, which was that she does not want something that may go (or is going) out of fashion. Of course it is entirely up to her, and I always encourage people to largely disregard 'forum opinions' and try watches for themselves
I would suggest that wearing any Rolex model within reason would be a safe and enjoyable choice.

This thread may be of interest to the OP, or at least provide some amusement...

Rolex datejust 28 or 31

My wife’s 31mm. She is about 5’4 slender wrist. About 5 inches. It looks perfect on her. I think 28mm is too small. That’s more jewelry and imo makes it look more dated. I’d post a pic of her but there are too many perverts on here lol

My wife and I have been having this conversation lately. She also has her eye on the same dial configuration too, you have good taste. She wears big and small face watches and was tempted by the 36mm (mainly due to my encouragement). When she tried it one she knew instantly it was too big, she didn't even have it on her wrist for longer than 5 seconds. Haha

Seeing the 28mm and 31mm beside each other she didn't even try on the 28mm and was draw immediately to the 31mm. Proportionally, it felt perfect for her, classy and not too big. She is 5'4 too and has slender wrists.

You should try them both on, then you'll know and it won't matter what any of us think.

Fashion is temporary, class is permanent. Happy shopping and remain blessed.

Bigger watches are more in fashion now. Once you get used to a bigger watch everything else is too small.

Hello Rachelsung, you're right. It has to be sought under "Lady datejust", not simply "Datejust" on the Rolex website.

This is how Ladies around me wear their watches “ Rolexes” I don’t know if there’s anything more beautiful than this. Love it.

When shopping for my daughter's graduation gift, we confronted the dilemma of size for a lady's watch. We went, or rather she went for the 28mm jubilee in white gold fluted bezel, Rhodium dial Roman numerals. A beautiful watch for a young professional. Larger watches are fashion watches, come and go. But a Rolex needs to be classic, especially if it is the one and only.

I don't think the 28mm or the 31 will really go out of fashion. You mentioned slender wrist so you may actually like the 28. The 28 also has way more variety of metal, dial, and bezel options. Hopefully the 31 will start to get more of these options soon. Good news is that you can find the 28 and the 31 at the AD so you can try on before deciding what you want. I like this 28mm two tone rose gold sundust diamond dial,

I was once in such dilemma with the size of 28 vs 31 when I got my lady date just.
I feel the ones with diamond bezel, a size 31 may appear too loud while a 28 is more elegant and dainty. On the other hand, 31 is a better size for a fluted bezel without diamond.
