S.S Daytona ceramic not what i expected

Hi everyone ,

Had my first look at the white face ceramic Daytona yesterday at watchfinders.

have to say that I was very surprised at how small it felt and how small it wore.

did not expect that, especially when you see it in photos.

the watch is beautiful, and the bezel and contrast with the dial is just perfect, but really could not get over at how small it seemed compared with say my BLNR.

Also tried on a white gold Daytona on oysterflex and this was better, perfect in fact. seemed thicker and bigger although they are probably exactly the same dimensions.

The price they are asking for the S.S is ridiculous, £17,150 so wont be getting one., but very tempted with the white gold for only £3000 more

If you are prepared to go a couple of years older, they are offering the WG model for less than the steel. It’s horses for courses. It does wear a little small, but the ceramic Daytona is one of the only modern Rolex I like. Mainly because it’s the blend of new materials with older style and thin lugged case.

I also prefer the black over the white, in which case they are knocking about for under 15k if you shop about, but I’d fully get it if you ended up with a WG one.

I know it takes some getting used to, esp when you seem them in the WF cases alongside all the other SS, looks particularly small, but it grows on your wrist.

The cases on the PM Daytona models are larger and wear larger. If size is a concern, SS models tend to wear like a 39mm and PM models wear more like a true 40mm.

There have been a surprising number of threads lately about the SS Daytona wearing small. Besides the obvious profit if purchased at retail, I suspect wearing smaller is a big reason they get flipped.

Bloody hell! So the SS Daytona c has increased from £15k to £17k that’s just crazy.

I’ve see some pre-owned pm Daytona’s on eBay for around £15k.

It feels perfect on my wrist. As if it were custom made for me. The most comfortable watch I've ever worn.

I would never buy or ware Daytona due to it's small size. Fortunately Rolex made SeaDweller 43mm, which is perfect size for my wrist.

Different feel than the other sport models but very sleek and streamlined. I love it even though I'm used to bigger watches (D-Blue, SD, GMT etc).

The white gold, rose gold, platinum and yellow gold on strap are bigger than the SS Daytona’s.

Wrist shots always make watches look larger than they actually are. I think it's a tendency to want to show the dial more than the perspective of the watch and wrist.

I like the look of the SS Daytona and the Daytona-C but it is too small for my tastes.

My 116520 Daytona, which is about the same size as the new ceramic, is my daily wearer. One of the reasons is that it wears and is smaller than my other Rolexes (GMT C, 114060). I prefer it over the others because it’s smaller, not the other way round. My sub is nice and is a beast when I wear it on my less than 6.5” wrist, it got presence I’ll give you that, but will never have the finesse and charm of my Daytona.

I’m 6.0 170 with 6.75 wrist and the size is perfect for me. I would not want it bigger at all. It’s very comfortable. I think the 44+ size watch fad is dying a bit. I used to have Panerrais and POCs and they we just too big and now I’d feel awkward wearing something that big.

The Daytona wears small, the precious metal pieces are a bit larger.

I have a 7.5” wrist. It feels good to me. It’s not huge. But it doesn’t feel too small.

The pre-ceramic is very nice and fits well. Very beautiful time-piece.

I totally understand, I am considering purchasing the white gold Daytona on oysterflex, you can save some money if you purchase pre-owned. It is a very beautiful time-piece.

That’s a beauty; frankly, I’d have it over the ceramic. Enjoy it.

Count your blessings you don't need to join the crowds to chase one of the hottest models in this planet. No need to buy if you don't love it.
