SS Sky-Dweller White Face

Just got a call from my AD this morning telling me she has the watch. Problem is this - I wanted the blue face. She says that one is the hardest to get and will take quite a while. I'm thinking of just pulling the trigger on this one. Thoughts?

If you want the blue dial one, I would wait.

The white dial is an amazing piece, however if you were really set on the blue, then take a pass on this and leave it for someone that really wants the white (such as myself) :)

Is it not possible to buy this one a get a dial change later down the line? The white face in my opinion is the best version of this model it’s super crisp and will be ten times more versatile!

I think you should wait. Buying because something is there is usually a route to losing money. If it’s blue you want, wait for it. Your AD will know you are serious when you turn it down.

Get it. Keep the stickers on it and if you don't like it, flip it for the blue one.

Just wait for what you want. I’ve been waiting for my watch for 4 months. The AD has offered every version except the one I ordered. It’s tempting to jump on one. In the end, you are paying a good buck, might as well get why you want. After 10 years of ownership you won’t remember the wait time but you will always have to look at the face of the watch. Be sure it’s not a face of regret.

Good point on versatility. I am starting to think the white face might be more versatile in that it can be more easily dressed up or down.

Either way I told her to give me 24hrs to mull it over.

Always get what you want. There have been many a flip and loss by those who get something that’s “pretty similar and nice.”

The white looks sharp, but that blue is really striking imo. I can see why you're considering waiting. I personally would hold out for a blue.

I think all of the new variations are awesome. Be steadfast if you know the blue is the one you want...I personally love the white. Not any more or less, just really like it as well. My buddy has a black dial and I thought it was going to be just ok but it’s awesome too...the new dial layout is just perfect. Can’t go wrong with any of the SS versions.

You owe it to yourself to at least try it on in person if you have not done so already. But as others have pointed out, buy it only if you WANT it and not because its available. Nothing worse than a $15K+ regret.

Make sure you have the wrist for white, white always appears larger imho. I’d probably take it as blue seems very hard to obtain

A buddy of mine has the white/cream dial SS Sky Dweller, and I did not think I would like it, but in person it is actually a very stunning watch! Go for it!

You should go see it in person. I was in same position in early September with my AD. I ended up buying the white, which reads towards silverish in indoor/artificial light. It’s the perfect complement to my BLNR in my two watch collection.

I prefer the white dial and if an AD called and told me the blue arrived I would not change my mind to blue. I say stick to what you want. It’s simpler in the long run.

All three of the dials on the stainless steel Sky-Dwellers are beautiful in their own way. I feel about them the same way I feel about the stainless steel Daytona models. You can't go wrong.

I got the black dial version. I love it. Would have been just as happy if I had gotten white. I've seen the blue in person and it's very pretty, but I like the black or white dial variants more actually. I might be in the minority on this, but doesn't really matter as much as I'm the one wearing my watch.

Get the white and then a blue DJ 41 Jubilee :)

I personally like the white better on the SkyD. I actually passed up the blue right as they were coming out because I wanted the white.

It is a beautiful complication watch. I would be very surprised if you ever regret purchasing such a great watch.

Congratulations Andy be sure to post photos.

Is this a real question?

“AD called and has a watch I DON’T want, should I buy it?”

This has all gotten crazy!

It works this way these days ...you dont want it,but buy it because you can flip it immediately for a profit and use it to buy the blue when it eventually arrives..who knows when .
Chrono24 is adorned with white black and blue versions at elevated prices, which makes one wonder where does the watch wearer/enthusiast fit in ,in ss Rolex world ??

The UK AD keeping the warrantee card makes more and more sense .

On certain models is not about supply and demand but simple commodity value .

the white isnt really a profitable flip. UK dealers offer below retail, or at least they use to. Seling it at market price yourself and its going to take a while. To a dealer is really the only "quick flip"

Only using UK as an example because they sell explorer II's over retail so the over retail market is huge.

The white definitely looks great, no argument about that. However, when compared next to the blue, especially in the right light......it just "sings"! (At least to me) I suspect if you go to try on the white, you might end up buying it. However, next time when you see a blue in person (either at an AD or someone wearing on the street) you might have regrets. The advice over and over again all over TRF, is to buy the watch that you like best and the one that "sings" to you! If that's what the white one does for you, I say go for it!

I like the Sky-D as a watch, so I would buy any dial color if my AD called and said one was avail, but if blue was a must have, then I would wait.
