GS Deployant Strap...how to install
I recently took ownership of a GS SBGX295. The seller shipped it on a tang strap but included the OEM alligator strap with deployant clasp. In looking online I see that many photos show that the deployant side is installed on the bottom; 6:00 side.
Can anyone confirm if this is proper? I love the watch by the way. It is my first GS and the quality rivals any of the Swiss watches I currently own or have previously owned. |

Either way is fine depending on which feels more comfortable for you

I was told that on fine dress watches, the japanese (like the swiss) believe it to be rude to show the spare leather on the side of the wrist that would be facing other people which is why you will see some watches setup like this.
I quite like this idea so left mine as-is this way. I've gotten used to it but agree to wear what you feel is comfortable. Sent from my SM-G9750 using Tapatalk |

I also turned mine the conventional way because it was more comfortable. But it arrived from Japan installed at the 6 o clock position. Interesting bit about culture and 'rude'.

That’s interesting
Also, if installed on the 6 o’clock side, it would function just like any other watch clasp |

The curvature of the clasp is asymmetric - it's definitely designed to be installed opposite from what we're all used to. If you install it backwards (or what you think of as "normally"), you'll find that the clasp will jab at the underside of your wrist. At least, that was the case for me.
