Incoming President YGDD FINALLY!!

Good evening. After some time going back and forth I finally pulled the trigger on the 18238 YG DD. I would like to take some time to explain a few things on this watch purchase. Some of you may know from my past threads I been going back between this model and the DJ 41 with jubilee band either yellow gold wimbledon or everose chocolate. Well this is the one I went with (because I have a 3 day no hassle return) If I decide that it isn't right for me. The reason I purchased this one over the DJ 41 was for the fact that I thought that perhaps a different model watch would be a better move since I already have a TT DJ II. I also thought that right now I found what I thought was a really good deal on a 36mm DD and that I should probably jump on it before someone else did. Newer DJ will be easier to come by as time goes on and a DD 40 is just to much money right now for me at this point in my life and should I keep this watch my next purchase will be a TT DJ with jubilee band.. I have 3 boys and looking to pass each one a nice watch from their POPS..!

Now with that being said I will be posting pictures for you all to view because what is a watch thread without pictures right...

First off I was worried that it was going to be really flashy since its all gold, I also thought that it would be to small after owning a DJ II which wears pretty big IMO on my wrist which is 6.75"-7".

We'll, for some reason this 36mm DD is not as flashy as my 41mm DJII perhaps its the size or maybe Im just super crazy..Time will tell when wearing out in public and family. Although at times I look at this 36mmDD and it feels plenty big while other times I feel like man its to small I wonder if I should have just got the new DJ41..but my wife keeps telling me have patience and enjoy your purchase you can get the other DJ later and to just be happy , but some you probably know how it is ....that buyers remorse...

So I will take a few days to think it over and decide whether this 36mmDD is right for me...

Let me say some things that I do like about this 36DD ..

1) The watch is in excellent condition I would say pretty close to being MINT if thats even possible...and I was very very surprised. All the edges of the watch from the bezel to lugs to the crown on the clasp are all very sharp edges. There is no gold stain, or ugly patina on the gold,,,its very good color and looks super nice.

2) the band has very very little stretch to it...not sure if it even has any..hard to say because I would have to have a brand new one to compare to but pictures are posted for your viewing...This was awesome to me because that was very important to me to have as close to mint bracelet as possible.

3) the watch came with all the links from What I told..and Im pretty sure it was because the watch had a bag with an extra link and I can probably remove 2-3 more...this is nice incase I gain weight in the future..(geese hope not)

4) came with certification and authenticity from WATCHCSA.

5) the watch is very very comfterable to wear its not super heavy..I think it was about 20G lighter than my DJII but still has heft to it given the smaller size.

6) This was my original ROLEX grail watch since I was just a little boy...at the time there was nothing bigger than a 36 and they never seemed small until recently with all the bigger watches..

7) Oh and I already have a bracelet to match it!!

Time for some pictures..

WOW!!!

Beautiful DD36 you have here. Very nicely done.

“...my wife keeps telling me have patience and enjoy your purchase you can get the other DJ later and to just be happy...”

I would definitely listen to your better half here — she’s got a LOT of wisdom in giving you this advice.

I don’t think I have seen such a clean reference model with a bracelet in such good shape and minimal stretch. That watch appears in mint condition for that vintage. I’m a tad envious. That’s a great dial combo and I like the smaller Roman numeral indices.

You will get used to wearing an all gold watch. It will take a little time before you’re no longer overly conscious of it. There are certain times, places, groups of people, meetings, where I’m more sleeves rolled down and discreet. But after a few years, I don’t really worry about that much.

Enjoy this beautiful watch and wear it daily. You will fall more in love with it each day like I did mine.

I am no expert on analyzing polishing and stuff...

But damn.

That watch looks to have very sharp lines still, and the bracelet looks to have no stretch?!

Great find in my eyes

Let me know if you decide to return it

First and foremost always listen to your wife first. You have a true classic there, with white dial and Roman numerals. Watch looks to be in fantastic condition, I would pull the trigger and keep it, this watch is in too good of condition to pass up. You can always find a DJ II.
I was in a similar position 3 years ago trying to make a decision on a YG DD on black leather strap 118138. I’m so glad I ended up buying it, haven’t seen one like it since and I get so many comments on it. Enjoy it!!!...Congrats!!

Thats gorgeous. Use it in Good health. I have same watch in a 118238. If you ever want to make it bigger just add a diamond bezel! 3-4carats and the watch will look like a 40 on your wrist. (just saying in case you get bored). Post up some mor pics of that bracelet!.
