The bring back the GMT2 LN black bezel thread.

It was something of a surprise that Rolex stopped the Black Bezel GMT2. Rolex make their own decisions and the reason could be to differentiate them from the various black bezel divers watches. The LN was undoubtably the least hyped GMT2 model and also the one made and sold in largest numbers. It was the equivalent of Vanilla flavour - not the most exciting one or the one everyone talks about but still almost certainly more popular than every other flavour.

I think they made a mistake. The GMT was originally made for airline pilots but in this modern age it has the most business friendly function of any Rolex model. So many people who wear suits or smarter clothes to work have a use for this model. I don’t doubt that many people love the bicolour bezel models but they look more casual and do not match business clothing as well as the LN did. I would love to see an updated GMT2 LN with an all brushed Oyster bracelet for people who want that vanilla understated look that also has the most useful function.

Lots of GMT variants were discontinued last year. I'm sure we'll eventually see them return with slight updates.

They are not bringing the LN back. But this Baselwolrd we will see a Coke GMT on brushed Oyster. Guaranteed. You guys can go ahead and ask your AD to put you on the list now.

I can see it coming back, but with jubilee bracelet - I don’t think we will see an oyster on a steel GMT2 for a decade.

I think most view a Rolex as a fashion accessory, and my guess is that the all black GMT and Sub were very close to one and other. If anything, I think they should probably discontinue some others as well.

It is a great watch, but I don't see it coming back. It's way too similar looking to the Submariner.

While people on this forum know the intimate details of the differences, the general public that buys a Rolex, buy only one, mostly based on the fact that it is a Rolex and how it looks to them. The average person would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a black ceramic GMY and Sub, especially with both on an oyster bracelet.

But thinking that so many people don’t know anything about the watch they buy is perhaps underestimating them and in a long term marketing strategy does not give people who enthuse about the brand much depth to enjoy. The GMT function is very popular as is the look of the black Submariner models. Combining them is the answer to a lot of peoples wants.

No one knows but I could see it's return to the lineup as a good possibility.

100% agree. I've been looking to source a NOS model just because it's plain and it wouldn't be too loud for me at work. Already have SubC, but appreciate the GMT complication and would like to pick one up. As you mentioned, the brushed bracelet would be a nice variation from the regular PCL one.
Maybe one day Rolex will let us do ala cart bracelets. Would be nice to get Hulk/Pepsi/Coke/Batman with three different options without waiting years for model "changes"

My thoughts too. Don’t see them doing coke 2020 when they are firing on all cylinders currently

Plus the two fine ladies tasked with Pepsi inserts might not be able to handle Coke as well.

I’ll second that, but I don’t think it’s coming back on an Oyster bracelet. If anything, you’ll see it on a Jubilee, or, more likely, you’ll see a Coke bezel.

Of course I could be wrong, but I doubt they are going to release another new GMT variant for the 3rd year in a row. I'd expect either the Sub or Exp II to be the primary focus of Basel this year.

This is why I didn't want to get an LN because of the
green GMT hand and green text.
Now if it were the red GMT hand that would be a
different story... Yes I agree, back and with RED this time...

I love my Dark Knight. Very in keeping that it’s been banished - Long may it remain amongst the immortals ...discontinued in watch Valhalla.

I think the biggest mistake was getting rid of the oyster bracelet.

IMO the 116710LN has a special place in my collection. While people think its boring and mundane, I can wear it under the cuff at the office and barely get a scoff at when comparing wearing the 126710BLRO which gets a lot of glares and comments. Personally this is a watch that will never leave the collection, and will always have a home with me.

It’s a very nice watch I would have a hard time getting rid of it. It’s a better looking alternative to the SS submariner in my opinion

I can see a coke bezel happening, not a full black bezel.

I think its gone for good, they are going 2 tone bezels only for the GMT

A friend of mine waited forever to pull the trigger on one and I managed to get one from my AD, the following week it was disco'd

I debated on buying one but thought it would be redundant to my Sub so I got the Batman instead. I believe it would make the perfect 'one only' sports/travel piece with the brushed oyster.
