Get it now, OP. Speculation happens every year at this time. I've seen the same mock ups year after year.

If the Explorer 2 gets a ceramic bezel it will look like everything else. If you prefer the metal bezel, now is the time to get one. They seem to be moving towards silly territory in the supply stakes. If you would prefer one with a ceramic bezel you'll have to wait. Maybe not long, maybe for ever. That's Rolex for you.

I have my 42mm Polar. I still love it as much as the day I bought it. From my perspective Rolex can do what they like with the Explorer now. It makes no difference.

Explorer Ii with a ceramic bezel? I wouldn't believe it until I've seen it and then I still wouldn't believe it. The ceramic bezel is not the answer to everything and I doubt Rolex would take away that part of the Explls DNA and history of one of it's most noted styling cues. If they do the prices of the previous models will only go up. They're going up in price everyday anyway so I'd say buy it now...

I have said it many times on several forums, a ceramic bezel on the explorer 2 is the dumbest thing they can ever do to it. It doesnt not benefit from a ceramic bezel. the explorer 2 in steel is practically bulletproof. Its legacy is as a spelunking watch. A ceramic bezel would make it rather susceptible. That being said, a 16570 polar is certainly trendy and on its way up.

I think the odds of a 2021 Expl. II Anniversary model going backwards to 40mm is nil.

If you like the 40mm size, and prefer the large orange 24-hr. hand, I see a 1655 in your future...

Even if a new model had a ceramic bezel, I would still choose the 16570. I love mine. It is very versatile - bracelet, nato, leather, almost everything looks good with it!

the 16570 to me is possibly one of the best 5 digit Rolex models. Buy it!

I don’t own the polar (just not my thing) but the 5 digit EX2 is the most comfortable watch I own. Can’t go wrong with it.

EXP II 16570 is the watch in my collection that perennially gets the most wrist time.

Comfortable beyond measure for a metal banded watch; with white face is easy to read; and, the red 24 hour hand never disappoints against the white face.

So I was talking to my cousins boyfriends sister whose friend works at an Ad who heard from a customer that the Explorer 3 will be steel bezel and 42mm.

I think she heard right.

I'd say buy now. Seems to be an undervalued model somewhat.
