"Does this look big on me"

Not a question from me, but I can't help but notice that a lot of these type of threads show pictures of a (badly placed) watch on the poster's wrist taken from less than 12 inches away.

In which case the answer is more often than not, "yes". The point is, it looks big on the wearer because of "perspective", and not necesarily because the watch is actually "too big"

I've put perspective in inverted commas because its both the perspective of the person replying based on what they personally consider "too big" and also, optical perspective.

This is a 42mm Seiko. I have a flat 6.75 inch wrist. If I asked the question based on the first picture I'm pretty sure the answer would be "yes, it does look big on you"

But if I asked the question based on the second picture (apologies for the quality - cropped from a larger image) what would you say then? Its the same watch on the same wrist.

So please, by all means ask for opinion, but give us something decent to work with

Yes, watches always come up huge in regular wrist pics. Zoomed in mirror pics give a much better idea of how a watch fits.

Definitely big, the bezel is almost outside of your hand's scope. I have the same problem and I think we have same wrist sizes. 40 mm should work ok, not more. I'm now wearing a 2015 explorer, and it's the perfect size for me with 39 mm.

Or even look at the pictures

Sadly that's another "disease" of this forum

Thank you for your "elegant " response. Btw, as you can see on both pictures, it's not the same wearer. And yes I still see the 1 st big (which is not the question) and 2nd not.
The second wearer has tattoos and has larger hands.
The only "disease" we need to cure these days is the respect to each other, even if someone posted something wrong, we don't have to talk harsh to him.
Cheers.

Yes I did, I saw something wrong with the the 1st one and the second being normal size that is why I didn't mentioned his case; furthermore, they're not the same hands: second one is larger and has tattoos.

I use my both eyes. Besides, the tattoos begin at the top. You can see it too. I'm sure you can see the opening between the hand and the shirt.
Cheers.

I can guarantee you that is the same watch, on the same wrist, with the same hand.

I can do all of that because it is my watch, on my wrist and its my hand. Oh, and I took both pictures with the same iphone camera

If you look closely you'll see that the watch is sitting on the hand side of my wrist bone in pic 1 and on the elbow side in pic 2. Here's a watch free wrist shot showing where the ink is.

My mistake then. I was just pointing out that people shouldn't be harsh with some responses I received earlier.
Cheers.

So in response to your question, second picture does look normal. Btw, cool tattoos.

Apologies if it was harsh. I have a caustic sense of humour

I had posted to highlight that the same watch on the same wrist can look too big or totally fine depending on the photograph taken.

And cheers

Isn't it - I've been extremely impressed with it at such a low price

Hey Scott, I actually read your post.

I agree completely. The wrist shots posted with the "is it too large" question are always shots that MAKE it look too large. How are we to judge?

I have numerous wrist shots of my old Explorer II 216570, in which it looks gigantic on me. However, after seeing full-body pics that my wife took of me while on vacation, the watch looks 100% normal on me.

Great Seiko, by the way!

My bad and yours my friend. You didn't have to point out my mistakes out loud... except if they made you judge of this forum or something.
As you might read before (or not), we made everything clear the thread owner and I, so you didn't have to respond to my post at all.
Heck I felt that I was in a court or something!
Chill.

My apologies for not connecting to the server in a timely manner thus missing your responses however it was you that jumped the gun. Why would the OP post a thread of the type you intimated?
You tried to back pedal then realised it was futile. Should've held your hands up at the off that's all. Either way it's no skin off my nose but found your initial reaction strange after you'd had a couple of people comment on your response.

Hahaha. You know the funniest part of this whole situation? You were so excited and busy with my reply that you didn't bother to reply to the thread's question. In a word, all your replies were waste of time to all of us.
Please next time reply to the thread instead of criticizing other people's replies.
Cheers.

You're correct. It's amplified here because everyone wants a really good detailed shot of the watch so we take them from really close.
