Recommendation for Vintage Shop in Italy

Can anyone recommend a vintage watch (Rolex) shop in Italy? Will be in Venice, Florence and Rome, and would love to find something unique. Thank you.

Florence

In Venice everything is expensive, i haven't found anything amazing over there.
In the back of the San Marco square there are watch dealers, some have trade in watches but they know the prices.
A Cappucino will cost about $11 on that square so imagine an all original vintage Rolex, watch out for the Africans selling fake bags and watches, sometimes you're pick pocket in the crowd by associates.

In Florence there are a lot of Vintage dealers but also be very carefull, there are a lot of Frankenwatches around which almost are impossible to recognise.
Ask for the places at Vintagerolexforum.com , there are a lot of Italian members over there.
They also know the value and over ask.
There's also the Rolex hotel over there.

Rome I don't really know.

Have fun, and never pay asking price at street vendors for Murano glass or Venice umbrella alway bid 1/3 upto 1/2.

Sorry to say but I don't think you'll find something unique.

Thank you all for the advice.

I was planning on wearing a GMT that I wouldn't mind trading. Is it really too dangerous to wear a Rolex in the tourist areas?

I have been to Venice almost every year for the past eight years and never had any concerns about my personal safety or concerns about pickpockets. Rome especially in the tourist spots have pickpockets Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, underground but would not put me off wearing a Rolex.
Any tourist to Italy will probably be the worst and least expensively dressed person compared to the locals. Just mingle don't go out dressed in shorts and socks with a giant camera hanging round your neck and a baseball cap and you will be fine

No good

I've experienced the same in Italy, I don't feel uncomfortable wearing a Rolex.

My wife and me were both wearing a 116200 DJ , when we left from the tower of Pisa to the car parking a street vendor approached us and commented our watches "No Good, buy real Rolex from me" , we both laughed and stepped in the car without a hussle.

Though when going into tourist area's I always am on "pick pocket" alert and carry the important papers, bank cards and stash money on the body with a belt.

Enjoy your stay

Jack
