Sub bezel inserts

Dear sub experts,

I've found some great info on this site, including what serial numbers match with which year watches. Is there a similar reference for sub bezel inserts? It seems clear that the bezel fonts have changed multiple times over the years and I'm wondering which fonts are correct for what year watches (e.g., fat font vs. thin, wide font vs. narrow, etc.).

Bonus question: Does anyone know when the switch was made from tritium pearls to luminova pearls?

Thanks!

I just realized that it may be difficult to talk about bezel differences without a picture, so here is one that I found on the Internet at http://www.network54.com/Forum/20759...erence+%28Long

I have found this link very useful also. Courtesy Pre V at Rolerai.

(This doesn't answer the serial number question, but should be a very useful visual reference for the different font sizes.)

Bezel inserts have always been considered "expendables" and are replaced at service....

So, the correct answer is that any authentic insert is "correct"..

The truth is that Rolex used several vendors over the years for dials and inserts both, so even during the release of same reference models, there are variations...

Tritium was phased out in 1998... dials, hands, and inserts..

How do you tell if it is an Authentic insert once the original packaging is discarded, are there any markings to indicate Authentic from a copy?
