I was so happy to see a 16600 thread. I keep these bad boys in rotation and I'm a detail guy so yes, these are all different enough for me to justify having at once. They each have their own feel and fit. It's hard to pick a favorite, however the 16600 is up there, here are some pics for ya!

My sensation ... SD is more consistent and massive on the wrist
a pleasant, nice sensation for me ....

the Sub it's the essentials, a smaller proportions and old style

2 gorgeous watches .....

thickness ..... stunning 16600

thinner ....

giant .... Deepsea

Wow, thank you for the thorough response. Been thinking about these two and have some concerns after owning the SD4K which I sold in favor of the GMTc. Couldn’t be happier. The top heaviness and protruding caseback was too much for my 6.5” wrist. I keep going back to the “five digits” (via my 114270) as much more wearable for me.

It was my very first Rolex and what drew me to the brand.

I LOVE how Sea-dwellers look, the history, etc... unfortunately they just don’t suit my wrist YMMV

I had the same issue with the SD4k and my 6.75 inch wrist. The 16600 is completely different. Much lighter than the SD4k and wears much better. I found the SD4k after weeks of wearing it to be uncomfortable. I actually found the ceramic subs to be the same way. I'm 5-digit references all the way.

Those pictures tell the story of the differences between the 16600 and 14060. Thank you!

Thanks for the comparison pics, yes, the 16600 looks a good size on a wide range of wrists. I craved a Deepsea in the past too, tried one on twice and had to concede that it was just too thick for my wrist. Although my Panerai can’t be that much off in size it just suits me more. DSSD no probs on your wrist tho!

That’s a shame. You mean the case back is the issue for you or the overall dimensions?

Unfortunately every Seadweller (including the Dblue) was just too top heavy/uncomfortable (yes partially case back).

I've never been able to get the right fit.

Admittedly, I love them, I just don't enjoy wearing them enough to own them

I've had Deepsea a few years ..... wonderful but not for every day.
all ceramics tend to tire me....

probably SD 16600 is my definitive one... it is a pleasure to share thx

I love Deepsea (also my Panerai 004 and.... I love 112 ) but for my wrist an SD 16600 is weight proportions aesthetics thickness style ..... ideal

I don’t have no date but have 16610. 16600 is what I prefer and wear more. If you want to have one watch, that’s it. It’s a beautiful watch

beautiful watch but I have a 7" wrist and I'm borderline. Just pass on the 43

16600 is a great reference. Since I also wear Panerai the size and fit are ideal for me. 5 digit sub seem a bit dainty to me. Also a great value as the seem to sell for less than a 5 digit Sub which is weird considering the SD is technically superior and had no cyclopes. Sourced mine a few years back

I tried it on yesterday at the store and it sure is a beauty. Compact yet technically superb. It was in a really nice condition, obvious that the owner had looked after it as he/she had kept all the papers etc in perfect condition. My wrist was 6.75 but I lost quite a bit of weight last year so I think I’m even down to 6.5 but as a lanky 6’2” I think this fits just right. Anyway, this 16600 is now mine!

As said, very nice condition with sharp edges and clasp crown.

Came with all the accessories and paperwork. It was serviced at RSC Tokyo in 2016 and got a new crystal and valve. Surprised the invoice total was reasonable at $1000 give or take. It was purchased on Xmas Eve in 2003 from Mitsukoshi dept store in Tokyo.

My last two purchases in Tokyo have been really positive experiences. So this is two more stores I would definitely buy from again, Ginza Rasin in Ginza and Kame-Kichi in Nakano Broadway. Masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, temp check etc. Professional, friendly staff and absolutely no worries about condition, warranties or authenticity.

Thanks for all the pics, advice and, ahem...enabling :)

Beautiful. Congratulations. You can’t go wrong with that piece. I have about a 6.75 inch wrist too but I’m only 5’7. It’s a great fit for that size wrist.

Wear it in good health!

I love my 16600 as much as my modern Rolex divers, it's a classic and extremely comfortable on the wrist!

Congrats on picking it up. I traded mine last year to help fund a WG Daytona, but it's a great watch and one I may go back to one day if I can justify it to myself!

Some years ago I had gone back and forth trying to make a decision between buying it or a 116600; I decided the dial and hands were more elegant than the 'maxi' configuration of the newer model, and the classic bezel was fine too - didn't really want or need the ceramic with its extra minute-markers all the way round. And although the 6-digit had an objectively better bracelet, the 16600's was 'good enough'.

I know the Subs of the same era are great watches, but I do find the date a handy thing to have, and am firmly in the camp of "wouldn't want a cyclops as I'm not an old man who needs reading glasses". So the non-deapsea seadweller was the perfect rolex diver for me (before the newest one got bigger and added the cyclops) - and I could see myself getting a 16600 or 116600 at some point in the future.

I traded my 14060 for a new 114060 in late 17. Sure missed it and had to add another about two years later. I wear the newer model more on a daily basis but now cherish the 5 dgt more than ever before.
