Help needed for a 1675 newbie

Hi There,

All advice very gratefully received. What to do?

Please see attached my 1675.

It was actually my dads from new. Dated 10th Oct 1975.

It went to Pragnell's Stratford-Upon-Avon in 1995 in very bad condition.

Ive been told it needs a the dial, insert and hands are all service replacement.

It has a serial of 3.2m

Can anyone tell me what I need to put it back to original condition?

Help much appreciated

Who told you that? Personally I would not change this dial out because the patina is desirable. Looks like it already got a service bezel.

Watch looks in reasonable condition to me. If the hands and other parts have been replaced I'd make sure the work was done by rolex. If the watch keeps time I wouldn't be looking for reasons to open it up. If the last time it was in was 1995, I'd probably send it in anyways but tell them you don't want the case buffed and you don't want replacement parts unless necessary. It's an old vintage watch so you want that look. Keep the patina dial for sure.

In general unless you have a really good reason to service the watch or open the case you should avoid it. I'm confused by the black spot on the minute hand here. Other than that it looks nice. A service will cost you 800-1000 from rolex.

.
Currently has a Service dial. I guess you could replace it .. or.. keep it but whatever hands you replace with, service, will not match the color.
Hands do need to be replaced or color matched.
Insert is already service, no need to replace.

Personally I’d just keep an eye out for hands that match the patina of the dial. Wouldn’t change anything else

thanks for all comments, they make sense.

The watch keeps excellent time.

I do like the dial colour. The lume on minute hand has begun to break down.
Strange I can't see anything rolling around the dial.

I will keep looking for some hands to match the dial.
On a shallow point, got any idea what it might be worth with good original hands?
I have the original coffin box and original papers, AD service papers, and obviously its a one owner watch from new.

Many Thanks

.
Another option and the cheapest is to get them color matched.
There is a person in your country, James Hyman, that could color match for you.
If you know a watchmaker to have the hands removed, you can send to him.
His IG is @thealchemistrelumer
His work is very good, check him out..
Good luck and keep us posted on the progress..

The lume on the dial looks quite strange to me, but I'm certainly no expert on service dials.

I would say those hands are more tan and your dial more yellow, not sure how that would match up....
