168000 is a strange one. Made in relatively small numbers, but apparently not particularly desirable (the 904L steel being the only difference between it and the later-run 16800 models, as far as I recall). Sellers will paint a rosier picture, but I wouldn't consider it as an investment piece.

Have to agree and many doctored ones out there with the extra 0 added to normal 16800.

I'm what way is it different than the millions and millions of trit 16610s? The similarities are going to hamper collectibility for all but the most dedicated.

Investment, no. Cool factor, yes, maybe, depending on condition. Post some photos. Hard to give opinions without them.

I'd think that an early matte dial 16800 is a much better investment that a 168000

Unless its a complete set showing the model number confirming its a real 168000 then I would pass. There were many 16800s which had an extra 0 added in order to make more money on it.

14060M is a model that everyone needs in their collection. A mix of new materials, newer movement but with the styling of years past. You can easily pick one up for under 5000

Whoa! You already got a 5513, why not move on to something else? 1803? 1675? 1601? 14270?

IMHO, the 168000 is a 'sleeper' model in terms of collecting 'vintage' Rolex. They were only made for 9 months and nice examples can still be found on the forums for a very good price!

My first Rolex was a 168000 which I purchased new in 1988. It was a daily wear for many years; only recently have some vintage companions been added to the fold.

I still enjoy the 168000 and despite its relative lack of popularity it will always have a spot in my collection.
