The Neptune
A seldom seen reference 5080/1. The head is 36mm, but wears larger due to the integrated rice design bracelet. It’s powered by a micro rotor with screw down crown. The bracelet has a flip over safety clasp. Date is quick set, no second hand hacking feature. The value on mine has more than doubled in the past five years. It is is excellent for either dress or sport.

Wow! I have never seen one before so thanks for putting it up on here. Vintage watch collecting is a direction i would like to go in but i do not have the knowledge to steer my way around the obvious pitfalls of authenticity and valuation to avoid buying an over polished Frankenstein.
The contemporary market is increasingly swamped by hype and machine manufacture dressed up under the vague description of ‘hand finished’ concealing the automated manufacture and assembly behind many mechanisms. On the one hand this doesn’t really matter but on the other one doesn’t want to be gulled by marketing. With vintage pieces this is not a concern, |
