Stupid money deserves a great watch. AP all the way and it may be worth something down the road.

The AP feels like a watch a banker would buy with sound investments after years of hard work.

The Hublot feels like a watch bought with speculated BitCoin!

I prefer the AP, but in your case I would look hard at the Hublot, especially since you have such a large collection already.

These are some of the watches I tried at my dealer’s place.
Nothing really sang to me yet and that’s why didn’t pull the trigger yet.

The AP Titanium 44 - $26,125

The Zenith El Primero Tourbillon - $21,750 (this is over a 50% discount to the original retail of $49,500 when it was launched a few years back. Probably the cheapest Swiss Made Tourbillon from a manufacture brand one can buy)

The Rolex Sky Dweller Steel - $18,800 (This is a nice chunky premium to the retail)

I thought this was going to be pictures of "show you my watches I bought with Bitcoin"!

I'd go with an AP, but 15202.

The AP is just so nice, but that Zenith fits in the category of “crazy watch with crazy money”

To get a $50k watch with 2 weeks of investing . . . Good story! Even if you will have to budget for maintenance. But then again with your collection I assume that is an ongoing concern :)

:-)

Maintenance is once in 5 years. That’s still not a very big concern.

I agree the Zenith Tourbillon at that price seems like a great buy - but having looked at the tourbillon up close - the “complication” doesn’t seem that mighty and exalted as I imagined and don’t feel like parting with that much cash.

I’m very happy for you. That’s amazing. The guy that lost that bitcoin spilt liquid on his computer and threw it away. That would be very hard to swallow.

I'd go with the AP over the mille wanna be every day.

I would personally go for the White Gold Day Date.

Congrats on your profit!

Just to close the loop on how this story ended.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

The final shortlist was between the AP ROO 44mm and the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang. The idea was to have a big, bold weekend watch.

How at $22K-$25K, the AP ROO didn’t seem like “value”. I mean nothing special with the materials, decades old design and still a movement that is not in-house and has a bolted on Dubois Depraz chrono module. Not to mention the various movement issues highlighted in the forums here.

With a Retail of $24K, but a grey Market quote of $14.5 to $17K, I found the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang reasonable. Especially with the legendary Zenith El Primero movement inside, bold design.
The watch is well made and finished and the design looks great.
Can’t fault those.

I get the Hublot Hate, but after a few years, I am able to slowly appreciate the Hublot message and positioning.

I ended up getting a great deal from a TRF seller which would allow me to keep a large chunk of the profits made and also wear a “Bitcoin Watch” - which had to be brash and loud and something I might have hesitated buying with “my own savings”

So, without further ado - presenting my Bitcoin Watch!

That’s a fair assessment.

Thanks All!

Now that I have been reading up on Hublot last few weeks (before pulling the trigger) I have realized the brand started as a true iconoclast when it was launched - simple gold paired with rubber (3 years of research to get the right rubber mix) at a time when Rolexes and others where going full on with gold and bling.

It has come leaps and bounds in the last few years in terms of its manufacture status.

Sure the branding and marketing is loud - but then again - it does get your attention.

Any case, I am enjoying wearing it.
