Real or Fake?

The watch in question is a Rolex Datejust 1603 36mm from around the 1970’s.

I have been gifted a Rolex for my birthday by a close family member who got it second hand, I believe from a pawn shop. I wouldn’t want to upset him by asking if he checked the legitimacy himself and that is why I am asking this forum. To the best of my knowledge, and after doing my own research it is only the clasp (jubilee bracelet) that I am unsure about. This due to a few things I haven’t been able to find on other watches while looking around to check this, though I am no expert at all which is why I come to this forum for an answer.

The only thing questionable about the watch itself after doing my own research appears to be that the model and serial numbers between the lugs at 12 and 6 o clock appear to have been worn away whether it be from the wear and tear of the watch (which seems likely as I believe the watch dates back to the 70’s) or other nefarious means. I can however make out the remnants of a few numbers/letters I believe upon close inspection.

Thank you, all help is appreciated.

Why do you keep starting threads about the same watch?

My apologies guys don’t really know how to work this forum yet or the ways to go about things, close this thread if I’m doing it wrong, just posted the pictures in the other thread.

Thank you.

The question was answered about the bracelet in the other thread

In this case, however, the bracelet shown is counterfeit.
I am not sure what you are seeking but good luck to you

You’re right, I should have only mentioned the watch in this post, thank you.

Guy seemed genuine enough. He didn't mention his grandfather in any of the threads.

Not mentioning his grandfather is a big plus. But I am not knowledgeable enough on this model so I leave it to others. Best of luck.

New here but I guess mentioning a grandfather is a common red flag on this forum after these replies, don’t worry it wasn’t a grandfathers haha. Cheers for the luck, I do seem to be getting somewhere on my other thread. Still I shouldn’t have made this thread didn’t really know how this works and thought a post with everything succinct in one place would be better.
