RIP Joe Laurinaitis - Road Warrior Animal
I just read that Road Warrior Animal passed away last night at 60.
This makes me really sad. Obviously, Hawk passed away several years ago and, while they were both pretty crazy when they were younger, Animal had really turned his life around. If you haven't seen the "Dark Side of the Ring" episode, "The Last Ride of the Road Warriors," it's really a great show and tells their story very well. The below picture was taken in 1986. I was at a wrestling show in Orlando and Mike Graham popped his head out of the dressing room and told me that the Road Warriors and Paul Ellering needed a ride to their hotel. They were too big to fit in my little 1985 Dodge Charger, so I drove Hawk and my friend drove Animal and Paul to the Days Inn at the airport. They hung out in the parking lot and shot the breeze with us for about an hour before calling it a night. Road Warrior Animal Dead at 60 |

They were one of my favorite tag teams back in the day along with the Steiner Brothers before Scott got all bulked up and crazy on steroids.

Certainly sad they both went off-planet sooner than most people do.
I’d say you and your friend were the original pro bono Uber drivers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
